The great thing about Brandon being a local and even getting this close is that it means even if he loses the guy he is running against has a noose around his neck. He cannot continue to be a RINO because he now knows it -will- come back to bite him when Brandon runs again. These are the best/worst scenarios depending on point of view. when you have a close contendor just waiting to smear you through the mud.
So no matter who actually wins, TX-23 gets a suddenly very motivated representative so long as Brandon gets at least within 10 points.

AIPAC has been running smear ads against Herrera.
He's from North Carolina and only moved to Texas a few years ago.
I'm predicting two possible responses to the outcome:

- Herrera wins, the Dems ramp up the emotional blackmail about Uvalde and try to flip the seat.

Which is absolutely untenable in the long term for a single representative race. If Brandon gets within 10 points Gonzalez will be told outright that he is on his own in the future. That's how it goes for house races, you will be helped against an unexpected contender but its a one time deal and its up to you to secure your ass next time.
Right, clarification required, "local" in this case means something different in politics. To be clear, I mean he lives in and is part of the local community. It is common in politics to be officially 'living in' an area to gain and maintain the right to run for that area but you have absolutely no part of the local community.
Brandon is new, but he is a local in political terms. Which also means the longer he stays there the more likely it will be for Texans to not hold his origins against him.

I've already said it earlier in the thread but they're banking everything on this. They already have a few key RINOs prepped to help pass the bill to strip Trump of his SS detail (and it won't matter to them if they don't get reelected as they despise Trump and have been promised cushy jobs for betraying their voter base). After that? It doesn't matter if the verdict gets overturned as they plan to Epstein him as fast as they can.
There's one massive problem though: there's a lot of moving parts here. The people planning this don't think systems move outside of their plans and that's a dangerous mistake to make; a dead Trump at this point no matter what will be seen as a glowop by his base and at that point all bets are off.

Sometimes, I daydream about running for public office. Not to win, but to have an opportunity to tell these lying fucksticks to their faces that they all deserve to die in a fire.
