Its a decent source when it comes to animation. Its long history lends to a wide variety shows that western animation lacks. It used to be a lot better, and the modern material is often mediocre compared to when came before.
Its huge now because of just how bad western media, especially western animation, has gotten so its not like people have many options.
(Seriously, around '15-'16 western animation had the a lot of money and interest around doing more serious projects. The industry instead chose to use that unique opportunity to make shitty adult comedies, and to shove as much gay sex into children's cartoons as possible. We could have had a juggernaut to rival even Japan in terms of animation if the industry had not been ran by retarded SoCali faggots.)

I recommend you react to this by seeking out something you would like, and watching it yourself to form your own opinion.. If you have and/or hated it that is fine. You should never let people force you to like or hate anything.

I really hate the stilted animation in the adult cartoons, like they are moving around paper puppets. Weebs will complain about shit like cg and 3d models but I've seen decent shows that primarily use that, like Yakitori.

Stick to the mainstream shit or you risk running into weird stuff, but good anime is the best TV you can watch. Yu Yu Hakusho is damn near perfect and only retards don't like it.

I think most Anime is bad and the only people that like bad Anime are people who are unironically autistic.

That being said Japan is a big country that is good at a lot of stuff so not everything that Japan produces that is animated is bad.

I really enjoy Psycho-Pass and Legend of the Galactic Heroes and have some appreciation for Full Metal Alchemist and One-Punch Man. Those last two are the type of show I would have really liked in middle or high school. I like LoGH for the naval and political elements though it does have a little bit of the flaws that Anime has. It also fails the no exposed breasts/boob joke test FOR SOME REASON. I watched other Anime before and some of them do have decent qualities but they are weighed down by something they did that was enourmously retarded or upon a rewatch they are meh.

Psycho-Pass is on another level though it has discussions of Philosophy I have rarely seen ever even in some of the classics. Also one of the cases of the Dub being better than the Sub. I'd put it up there with the plays of Shakespeare and in fact two of the episodes involve one of his plays.

In summary
Anime mostly Sucks so you should mostly Cope and mostly Sneed
