Your Superstitions and Strange Beliefs - or how to ward off bad luck, wicked juju, and the evil eye

I'm very obsessive over numbers, both in understanding the world and in how I choose things. I've made life decisions based upon whether a certain thing had a prime number or not.

I don't do any of that gay shit when I see a solitary magpie, but I can't stop myself looking around to find it's partner.

I try to avoid complaining about my problems in a serious manner because I believe it's inviting the universe/luck/my subconscious (or god if you go in for that) to find a way to fuck me harder.

I remember that. Didn’t Luc Montagnier say he’d replicated it?
Off the top of my head without looking the papers up, Benveniste and his team managed to, among other things, transfer the digitalized EMF signal of acetylcholine solution by a solenoid into a container with pure water, and when this modified water was injected into a heart, it caused an increase in coronary blood flow equal to roughly 10^(-3) the strength of the original solution.

Montagnier did basically the same procedure, except he used very dilute solutions of certain short EMF-emitting DNA sequences from pathogenic bacteria and viruses. When the information contained in the EMF was transferred to pure water like in Benveniste's work and either DNA polymerase (along with nucleotides, ATP, and whatever else it needs to work) or some cancer cells were added, both the polymerase and the cancer cells were able to synthesize the original DNA segments from the information contained in the treated water alone. Montagnier concluded that since the only EMF-emitting sequences he discovered were from pathogenic organisms, this EMF-mediated information transfer via water is a way for those pathogens to evade the immune system.

Interactions of electromagnetic fields of biological origin with intracellular water, which, contrary to the widely accepted belief, is not in a liquid state but is in fact adsorbed (primarily) on fully or at least partially extended proteins in oriented polarized multilayers, allowing it to serve as an information carrier.

Check out the research of Jacques Benveniste and his students to see what kind of biological responses they managed to elicit in various cells and tissues using nothing but water modified by electromagnetic radiation.
I have no idea what that means. It looks like word salad. But then again english isn't my first language.

My maternal lineage has some long held superstitions from Ye Olden Scotland/Ireland/Britain/Wales/Etc. My nana always kept a packet of salt and some copper (pennies) in her pocket, and made her kids, and grandkids, do the same growing up. It's to ward off the fae and keep them from snatching you and your kids up. I still do that too, even now, out of habit. Probably will keep the tradition going if I have kids at any point. I tend to keep the idea that traditions aren't born out of fear of nothing so, I'm not gonna risk breaking a chain.

If I’m not matching my nail polish to my outfit or a special occasion, I usually grab my wheel of swatches and pick one at random and look for a hidden meaning in the name.

I just picked a color and it was called ‘Elaine’, I haven’t been keeping tabs on Elaine. Has something been happening or is about to happen? Perhaps it’s nothing but I’m still going to go and read her thread.

Passed down from my mom's family that is "Bird at the window, Death at the door". If a bird hits your window, it's a bad omen that someone will become seriously ill or injured.
Conversely, if a pair of birds makes a nest near your window, you will sleep well and be healthy all through spring and summer.

i don't believe in anything supernatural. but one thing i won't fuck with is santería shit. when i was a kid i had a friend of the family who was a priest in that religion. he had kids my age and i was over hanging out.

i was young and saw a split coconut on the ground, and did what any young boy probably would've done- smashed the shells by stomping on them. the kid's oldest son, who was only a year or two older than me, ran over in a panic and informed me i shouldn't have done that because it was an offering and i was gonna have bad luck. i laughed it off, then proceeded to have the worst fucking luck all day.

it was only small stuff. kept falling randomly, but i swear it felt like something was sweeping me from the ankles. a girl shook her leg at me in anger because i was teasing her, and her wooden sandal flew off and hit me right in the mouth, splitting my lip. etc

still think it's possible it was all a coincidence. still don't believe in anything supernatural. but now i avoid anything that has to do with that religion like a plague.

I've mentioned this in the Internet Pagans thread, but Santa Muerte is similar. Just don't fuck with it. No supernatural required, just stay away from it entirely, you don't want her followers in your life.

I don't know if I believe in 'angels' but some part of me feels like there's some entity that's been helping me a lot. There's been moments in my life where I have been in danger that I have gotten out of, and they usually all have a similar pattern.

I don't talk about to anyone irl because I don't wanna seem crazy or even hinder my own belief of it.

When I had my vision fucked up from an allergic reaction to medication, my life became hell.
everything looked like grainy static to me.

I didn't know what to do, doctors didn't know what to do either.

So one night I straight up prayed to it. I just wanted it to get better.

I had a dream that night of someone ethereal holding my hand we were wading through silky black water together. I felt very hydrated.
When I woke up, my vision was 75% less grainy. Now I can go through life without wanting to die.

I'm surrounded by very 'rational' people so this shit will forever stay on anon Internet forums lol

I wonder if this could have something to do with the quality of the air. The air we breathe plays a crucial role in health and disease of both plants and animals, and the factors are not merely the obvious ones such as pollution, but also more subtle ones which escape the senses, such as ionization.
