Because she was physically suffering at the end of her life. They had her propped up in a cutesy cripple cart because she couldn't stand or hold her head up unassisted, people still kept gushing about how sweet it is that a sick old dog was blindly shuffling around with a head flopping on a neck that didn't work anymore.
