The Hualongdong skull is what I was thinking of. Took me a few minutes to dredge it from whatever cranny it lodged in in my head.

I do always enjoy the scale of some open air museum antiquities. Just being able do things like walk the streets if Pompeii or stand in the middle of the Coliseum gives it a quality that pictures don't translate. Also always fun to experience the opposite too, like with Stonehenge, lmao.

I'm certain we have.
One of my interests is mythology - not so much the myths themselves, though they're usually interesting and some are good reads, but looking at them as archetypes. Every group we know of (that we have myths from) not only have common myth themes across cultures - humans are humans, and we're not wired up that complicated! - but even the oldest of them, with the specific exception of cultural creation myths, have indications in their myths that they're not the first people to have been around, others had been before them and were either the teachers or had died off.
It's a fun little hobby. I could happily go on for hours about it. Stones crack, metal rusts, and wood rots, but stories last.

It's fun and interesting to me, at least. I'm interested enough in the physical movements and migrations of various tribes and cultures traced through genetics and language of both people and livestock, but the movement of ideas and stories - and morals and philosophy, if you like, they're related - is fascinating to me.
Have to be careful not to PL though.
