Oh awesome, a plant autism thread. What's the opinion on philodendrons? I started collecting them about a year ago and now my house is full of cuttings and baby plants. They seem a very basic bitch type of plant but damn they're pretty. I need more of them.

If they're at your work, is there a chance someone else is messing with them? Someone "helpfully" watering them while you're not looking? People can't resist messing with plants.

Here are the butternut pumpkins I was telling you about the other day.

The ones on the left are still kinda green because the vine they were on died so I'm just hoping they will ripen over time.
The one in the back with the white stuff on top is where I snapped it off the vine, at the pumpkin so I melted a candle onto it to try and seal it up so it doesn't rot and decay through the open top, considering it is one of the better ones.
There is still more on the vines though so if I lose that one it isn't too bad and I have decided not to snap any more off by hand lol.

I also have normal pumpkins, blue crowns I believe. They are not doing so well, I planted them in an area with poor sunlight so they are not growing very fast and they are dying to powdery mildew

It might still be alive! I actually have an "abandonment box" for this reason. When something dies, I throw the "core" of the "dead" plant into my box and leave it alone. I've had a few things come back after like 6 months that I thought were 100% dead-dead.

You inspired me to make one of these with an old flowerpot on my deck, I've chucked in a wandering dude that stop wandering and 3 of the 4 pilea stumps that were "dead but not dead" to see what happens. Godspeed you green bastards.

My silver pothos cutting is finally waking up and has 3 new leaves. I thought it was just dead or dying, cause it hadn't done anything since I got it. But I guess it's settled in now and woken up.
Monstera is one I would like to have but I have no confidence in my ability to not kill it.

Here's a fucked up inflation indicator: Marimos are getting to be worth their weight in gold and we're seeing knockoff marimos in the market. I asked a seller about it the other day (because I thought it was because so many marimos got caught up in the great Zebra Mussel panic) but she said it's not just limited supply, but extreme demand because they're an "It Plant" again.

I'm glad after years of debating buying them I got mine a while back before those prices went wild. Even then though there were already plenty of knockoffs.

So I have a bit of a mystery on my hands, I have a growlight setup in my house with several trays of seedlings on it, these last couple of days I noticed that I had a few aphids on two seedlings on different shelves. None of my house plants are near my seedlings and none of them have any aphids. I have no idea where they came from, its still to early for aphids to have come from outside, so the only thing i can think of is the possibility that eggs overwintered in some of the left over seed starting mix from last year. Does anyone know if that is a possibility? I know that eggs usually overwinter on plant material, but I've never heard of them doing it in coconut coir. If anyone has any other ideas on where they might have come from feel free to share.

To add to this, on both seedlings there was one large aphid and a few smaller ones, which means that one colonized the seedling and starting farting out clones, and neither of the large aphids had wings so they hadn't flown onto the seedlings.

Now* I keep them at home. Funny enough my co worker whom I love to death would be that women too lol.

I just lost a big branch on my cherry tree out front from the wind. Really upset. Mrs basso "oh there will be a gap in shade" Me "it's a living thing and look how bad that was!!!"
