Imagine being some poor dumb 18-year-old Latter Day Saint all fresh-faced and rosy-cheeked and excited for your mission and you knock on your first door and it's fucking AgendaPoster. "Come on in", he says, "Let's debate it."
Let's get a visual on that...

Hey welper, have you ever played fallout new Vegas, specifically honest hearts?
Halfway, but yes. Graham pleases me.
How do Mormons interact with the Community of Christ? See them as Liberal heretics or something?
Out of our offshoots, they're pretty tame. As far as I know they don't do weird shit. Could be wrong, but that's the impression I get.

Do Mormons have something like Kabbalah like the Jews have? If not, why become Mormon? How do I know God isn't the Demiurge and Joseph Smith wasn't a gnostic archon?
1. No. 2. Because you feel in your heart it's true. 3. You pray about it, study, and feel it out for yourself. You got to rely on faith. I'd recommend reading the Book of Mormon if you want to do some soul searching on those questions. It's not super long.

Just answering it all, yeah I believe it happened, as for where, all over north and south America. If you read the Book of Mormon, they move around a lot, including mentions of expeditions to the north, and people fleeing to the south.
Late and gay, but in regards to this post, I think you might find this guy's seminars interesting. He's a convert archeologist with a strong focus on the Hopewell people (since he lives in Wisconsin). He came to a personal revelation about them during his studies and reading Joseph Smith's letters, and for years he's hosted seminars and sometimes fire sides about Book of Mormon geography. (The question mentioning the Great Lakes area triggered this response ngl.)

There's also a separate video dedicated to whom he believes the Jaredites to be.

Oh cool, I'll have to check that out, thanks!

What's with y'all's genetics? Every single missionary I've ever seen either looked like a Nordic chad/stacy or an extra from The Hills Have Eyes. I've never seen an average looking one.
Early missionary efforts were in Nordic countries, so Utah has a lot of them. Though now a days were converting a ton of south America, so do with that as you will.

Do missionaries have set conversion goals? Like, in your two years(?) is there a hard number or is it 'we need X converts from Y sincere contacts" that you are encouraged to reach? Does the number vary based on geographic location? I'd reckon that you'd do better in Peru or Samoa than northern Italy.

Is it true that male missionaries can't ever be out of eyesight of each other, save for showering or taking a dump?

What do women missionaries do? More like logistical support vs. door-to-door activities? Do wealthier families tend to get more favorable mission assignments? This wouldn't be a surprise if you look at how the well-to-do kin of the rich fare during wartime in the US and other countries.

Thanks for the thread. Unless you are affiliated with Vivint. In which case, fuck you.

Also, is there there a good insult I can use when I catch my LDS coworker having a coke at her desk every few months?
