Lots of pictures ahead for the repotting the Monstera project!
I'm trying to show the "bucket handles" for the insert to the fancy self watering pots. They are actually really convenient because you can just lift the insides out and leave the pot on the floor.
Also checking the size for the moss pole I intended to use.
I had hoped the roots had loosened a bit the last month it had been in the big pot, but no. Still densely packed and easy to scoop out.
As you can see, I did this in a shower stall. I hoped the water could help make loosening everything up a little easier. I think it did.
Also, I know that plants basically live on sunlight but it still amazes me that such a big plant can survive with such a small root base!
It took forever, but I managed to split the three plant parts from the dense lump. I only broke off a single leaf, so I think that counts as a success.
(Put the latest Geno Samuel video on, and listened to the whole thing while untangling, so it took a while!)
Installed the three seperate plants back into the pot, up around the moss pole.
I put two padded plant wires around at the bottom of the pole to stabilize it and encourage it to climb.
Then hosed it down to clear the leaves from dirt.
I intend to leave it in the guest bathroom for a few hours to let it drip dry, then return it to its outer pot.
So far so good?
