So its over now? Even Trump skipped the debates and only showed up the last week of campaigning and now its Trump and the indian. DeSantis got treated with such kid gloves by literally everyone. Not a single joke from the late night people and the usual blue checkmarks barely payed attention to him. It was like if a literal retard ran for president, outside of the boots he's literally not had a single joke made about him. Even Barack in 2008 got a lot more shit from the left. This was the nicest people have been to a supposed frontrunning GOP candidate since HW Bush.

It was over before it started. The National Comittee might be a defanged loyal opposition, but the State level commitees are not. And they are the ones who run the primaries.

More broadly though, there is just this general feeling that Trumps story is not over yet and we all want to see the climax. I'm not gonna lie, it's compelling on an almost mythological level, which makes the rational part of my brain groan and cringe.

But that is the simple truth. Trumps story was never finished. And the people want to know how it ends. This must be an utterly alien concept for the political establishment, having been raised on a diet deconstructive literature. Carl Jung and Joseph Cambell would not be surprised at all.

Tl;dr, Your local Republican party conference after 4 years of political persecution.

Ron wants a whitehouse job so bad, I think he realises that he might get VP or some secretary position if he sucks Trump's cock sooner rather than later.

I hope Nikki gets VP just to piss off Ron. He deserves nothing.
Tulsi would be such a great VP.

They wouldn't need to rig it if a uniparty candidate was running.

Hopefully he picks someone even less acceptable to the establishment then he is.

Rand Paul? Tucker Carlson?
Someone any potential glowie assassin would hate more than Trump
Rumors I've heard are Ben Carson, Michael Flynn, and Doug Burgum.

And as soon as it looked like he had locked up the nomination, either by vote or by Trump going to jail, the knives would've immediately come out and those same people would unleash the usual play of how he's a dumb evil fascist that wants to kill the gays. And the mindless niggercattle that watch those shows would've all seal-clapped in response.

Tulsi would be such a great VP.
For all her positives, her position on guns (wanting to ban "assault rifles") makes her an absolute no go for me.

iirc former Trump staffer (and on good enough terms to get Trump to do promos for him fairly regularly) Seb Gorka supposedly has the info and has been spreading it around Salem hosts
a) he's a guy
b) he's not a guy who ran this season
c) "he's a good pick" and other vague reassurances to indicate he's not some uniparty bullshits

there's definitely been a concerted effort to make noise that it's Carson, but I assume we'll see soon enough if it's really him or if it's just a 5dchess to make the libs freak out about a black guy

Flynn would be a good insurance policy since he's got even more reasons to be big mad about the deep state than Trump

dunno much of anything about Burgum. Was he one of the guys who was running for a minute like Bolton? although I'd assume "not somebody who is running" would be more indicating the ones who were more of an attempt at a campaign like Ron! and Nimarata and Fatty.

Not sure how much I trust someone with a political positions Wikipedia page that long.
She was brought up as a prominent democrat at an early age but was smeared and ostracized by Hilary Clinton and the democratic party, calling her a "Russia spy" or whatever because she dared oppose Hillary.

So I haven't seen many people discuss it in the thread but doesn't this all but confirm that Desantis is the VP pick? His entire run was predicated on trump not being able to run. From what I can tell that's still up in the air. I'm more than willing to believe that Trump and Desantis met an agreement to totally put Haley on ice. Desantis was always marketed to be trumps fill in and this seems to be their way of circumventing her entirely instead of risking her taking Desantis's place.

It seems they want to keep DeSantis in Florida at least until his term expires. Rumor I saw, granted it's Seb Gorka so take that as you will, is that the pick is a former elected official from NY. That's almost certainly Lee Zeldin who made NY Gov a competitive race as a pro Trump R and probably helped pull some down ballots over the finish line. He's on the trail with Trump now and if they want a guy who pull votes in hostile territory it makes sense.

Or it's George Santos and we get the funniest thing ever. In fact George should just declare he's the VP pick and show up to rallies anyway. That might be illegal but that's never stopped him.

NEW HAMPSHIRE PRIMARY, DESANTIS OUT

Cartoon published 01/22/2023

Trump leads. Nikki claims no one likes her because she’s ‘brown.’ And Ron DeSantis rolls away like a leftover meatball.

Ron DeSantis didn’t last long. He dropped out at the start of the New Hampshire race.
Perhaps Iowa taught him a lesson and he doesn’t want to learn it again. He visited every county in Iowa and didn’t win a single one. Ron should have waited until 2028. His premature run showed voters who he is—a conservative who seems uncomfortable in the spotlight. He tried to present himself as having a more dominant presence by wearing cowboy boots with big heels. It made him look sillier, not taller. He struggled to show warmth and personality. (In that department, his wife was far more magnetic). He was supposed to be Trump without the baggage. Voters prefer Trump despite his mean tweets, the Democrat’s lawfare tactics, and legacy media lies.

Vivek Ramaswamy was supposed to be a younger, more energetic version of Trump, but voters still prefer the real thing—and Trump shows plenty of vitality and mental agility even at his advanced age. At the recent New Hampshire rally, Trump claimed he felt better today then he did 30 years ago. Compare that to stumblin’ bumblin’ fumblin’ Joe Biden who can’t figure out how to walk off a stage and never met a sandbag he didn’t trip over.

It’s too bad the round man, Chris Christie, didn’t stay in the race for comic relief. But ‘donut man’ had better things to do, like bash President Trump on fake news.

The race is now narrowed down to Nikki Haley (who is Dick Cheney in heels) and President Trump. Nikki might do well if a lot of Democrats switch parties and vote for her. It’s a possibility, but most MAGA Republicans know her as the last, desperate offering of the GOP establishment. She’s a RINO inside and out.

Gorka's such an annoying little putz; hopefully it's just people messing with him to make him look stupid. I honestly thought it would be Noem or Stefanik; I can' t believe Orange Man would just select another rando out of the blue like he did Pence, but then he's notorious for surrounding himself with awful people. Probably someone who kissed his ass at a party or something.
