No offense but it shouldn't be you giving the crash course if you choose to. The way you wrote how to support the forum thread isn't newbie friendly and this definitely isn't. There are a handful of others I've read in here that explain things much easier. You get too technical without meaning to, tbh.

I didn't think #2 was a big deal because Cogent doesn't actually have a large presence in our upstream blend, but it's apparently a big enough deal that some dude who thinks he can rewrite KiwiFlare can't identify it's Cogent obstructing his networking and not a DDoS attack.

The main issue is i dont think that this forums structure lends itself to this kind of gayops. As cringe as it is something with nested thread management and easy to edit and pin main posts like discord threads or a slack is better for organizing this kind of thing. Not that any of these solutions wouldn't get reported into oblivion the moment a link was posted...
I think a post dedicated to Number two would work best since its a single goal.

The issue with a thread for number one is
A: It would basically be a giant paper trail for a possible tort claim.
B: The sites of interest will be moving targets and so will be the people we need to complain too and about. I can see the thread devolving into unrelated posts, bad advice, and generally being ineffective.

Perhaps a single unifying point of interest. For example i think our best vector is going after the troonshine sites since we can just spam everyone in the stack with some form of "unlicensed pharmacy you might be legally liable" and "aiding and abetting minors in purchasing scheduled drugs"
I think vectoring directly against the troonshine is the most likely pain point to get everyone from registrars to hosts to go "oh we dont want anything to do with this"

He might be referring to coordination on specific owners or domains. A discussion forum, generally, is hot garbage for such activities.
 
Maybe, I'd be more concerned if there were users coordinating against legal websites. Brazilians cooking up estrogen out of plastic bags in bathtubs and sending ampules contaminated human hair illegally through the postal service to children for them to inject into the carotid artery? Sounds like good faith activism to me.

I have no reason to assume that these businesses are not welcoming complaints, by the way. Nobody has emailed me about anything.

I mean fair enough. Like i said of all the possible vectors to effectively raise hell at while simultaneously dunking on the troons its definitely targeting the troonshine at the source. Seeing the cope from places like DIYHRT and others warms my cold dead heart.
 
Maybe using a troonshine site as the example in the #1 post would work. They're blatantly illegal which is what we're reporting - and then just quoting Cogent's AUP would show what other kinds of sites violate it which is about half of the internet.

I think this isn't as complex as #2 because everyone can do it if they're willing to look a few things up and write a nice e-mail. I don't think you'll need to understand tiers/IPs quite as much because there's sites that help you.
 
There is only so much disruption we can cause the troons, since they hide away on discord, mastodon, and other areas of the web that are resilient to deplaforming attempts.

I believe the goal here is to just make Cogent reflect on whether or not they want to be the internet police due to the overwhelming amount of complaints from both downstream customers and concerned netizens demanding they censor anything that violates their AUP.

I think item #1 is beyond your resources to combat, I think Cogent values the ability to censor far in excess of what users of KF can cost them to keep it by filing complaints. Even if Cogent took notice, they would respond by making they process for filtering complaints more cost efficient for them. The sad truth is that they would probably stop accepting complaints about DIY HRT sites before they would stop accepting complaints about KF.

I think #2 is far more productive and more likely to result in Cogent's direct customers complaining, as that would directly address whether Cogent is willing to censor KF specifically rather than if they are willing to censor in general. I think Cogent values the latter much more than the former. Problems with censorship in general, particularly when it's coming from the progressive left, is a far bigger societal issue than just this site. The opinions and values of mainsteram society would have to change to end that phenomenon.
 
I don't see why both aren't worth it.

There's users who won't be impacted because they're willing to jump VPNs and use Tor, but who are more than happy to troll trannies. This is already happening.
There will also be other users who have no desire to use network manipulation tools to access a legitimate site, and will complain to upstreams who can switch off Cogent. This is also already happening.

Trannies getting trolled by Cogent are also going to become accessories to the effort. They will necessarily have to act the same way we do to stay online, and that will exasperate the issue and create a stronger bipartisan support for net neutrality.

It's easy for them to just say "Except in urgent cases such as immediate threat to human life, we believe the government should censor, not us", like Cloudflare did. This is what happens when Wikipedia is full of bullshit and the mainstream narrative is completely decoupled from reality. It's hard to fight "the power to define". 2 + 2 = 5, etc.

It's also harder to defend than attack in a total retard war (fair game, that is), and the narrative is such that it is really hard to defend this place on top that. But the HRT sites are even more indefensible since they actually violate the law and harm children. Is Cogent willing to put out a statement to all the companies they do business with that illegal HRT sites are A-Ok in writing? Because if not, you can still lean on them with the fear of Cogent, not to mention going after the rest of the stack and all the other companies. This puts the troons on defense, and their usual tactics like sending journo assassins are also risky here since it risks drawing more attention to the HRT sites and the associated grooming from parents that just want to grill, even liberal ones. The troons are well aware that the tide is turning, and I suspect that desperation may be behind their recently renewed efforts, either to hold back the sea or to hide the evidence of their own despicable acts while they still can.

You're not trying to conquer the world here, just be annoying enough that companies stop taking calls from the Karens and (wisely) decide to stay out of the culture war.

I think assuming the time and resources spent on handling a sea of complaints that are properly sent in is no big deal is wrong. If you have to hire more employees, spend more in fees, and/or deal with angry people complaining about Cogent trying to be the Internet Police, then something is going to give. Cogent asked for this, and we are simply helping them out.
 
More importantly Cogent doing nothing about clearly illegal web sites in favor of its blatant effort to destroy us sets its own standard that can be pointed. Doing nothing is still doing something and taking a corporate position in this particular scenario. They have to also be worried about Liability.

Since they have established for themselves the authority of Internet Jannie they have assumed a legal responsibility to sweep it up. If little Timmy trying to become Tammy has a severe allergic reaction to troonshine and dies, Cogent is in a real pickle. Especially if they had been informed ahead of time of their clients illegal activity. Vicarious liability is a thing in civil actions, and the only defense to it is a uniform policy.

Nothing wrong with informing them you're very happy with the fact they're censoring unsafe and harmful content, here are some more websites that do illegal harmful stuff, you'll be telling everyone you've reported it to them, thanks for your efforts in making the internets safe, Cogent.

Though I'm wondering. Would the liability threar not take more effect if it's also reported to the authorities?
