There's a thread here for AC that could probably answer most of your questions better than I could, but I don't think it's that hard of a game to learn and play. Each numbered AC after two is in it's own timeline like how gundam has AUs, so the story and gameplay are standing on their own for each entry.

I think it deserved best writing/narrative or whatever but AW2 getting best art direction over lies of Pee has me seething mad. Those koreans deserved something, I can't think of any notable korean games or devs and they burst on to the scene with the best soulsclone ever. Wish they were rewarded in some fashion.
