Business Discord users are cancelling their Nitro after new mobile layout update - Grooming, child predation, CP? I sleep. New mobile layout? Real shit!

Discord users are cancelling their Nitro subscriptions after the popular chat app launched its new mobile layout globally.

Months after Discord’s new mobile layout first became accessible through an in-app Easter egg, the company announced on December 5, 2023, that it will be rolling out to users globally.

This replaces the original app layout that many have become used to, prompting a bit of backlash regarding the change.

Due to the update, users on social media have said they’re canceling their Nitro subscriptions as a way to boycott the changes.

Discord mobile layout update leads to backlash

In a reply to Discord’s update announcement on Twitter, a user asked if there would be the ability to revert to the original Discord mobile UI.

The company replied that the old layout is no longer going to be available, and users aren’t exactly happy with that answer. In response, many have called for people to cancel their Nitro subscription.

“Cancelling nitro. You have no idea how much efficiency and money your ‘update’ will cost me,” one user replied.

Another said: “Yo Discord, I’m canceling my nitro Thanks for the update I never asked for, mobile app was just fine.”

“If they don’t fix this by the time my nitro is up, I will not be resubscribing,” a third user commented.

It’s unknown whether Discord would be willing to revert the new changes, but we’ve reached out for comment and will update you should they respond.

In the meantime, keep it locked to Dexerto for more news.

Well step up nigger, what does the new layout look like? I'm not downloading the app to find out myself.
its fine, i dont see the problem lmao
just niggers mad ta few buttons changed and they didnt get reparations for it (they never will because theyre lazy child grooming fucks, who would be better put to use picking cotton)

Does the new layout really make it that much harder to groom kids on Discord?
It's not  bad, its just a very poorly thought out design change. Every action that took one or two swipes or buttons is now nested between two or three more steps.

Minor in the grand scheme of things, but extremely fucking stupid from an end user experience. There is a way to revert it hidden in some vague corner of settings where you'd least expect, but it is there. Hell if I can remember where though.

Discord trannies with a higher degree of autism see something they use regularly change and freak the fuck out.

Why is this a news story? This feels like the most obvious thing that would occur.

I really am sick of websites and software making garbage needless changes to their UI every 8 fucking months or so while breaking existing functionality in the process but let's be real, the kind of people who pay for Discord are addicted to it and will never stop paying to get their shitty animated emotes or whatever.

I also don't feel any sympathy because a lot of trash modern web UI is driven by smartphone design being forced on desktop users, so fuck 'em.

These retards take discord way too seriously. Remember when they had a literal autistic meltdown because of a change in color in the logo?
That one is silly, but from a design point of view I can understand the annoyance, if a very niche one. In design packages that use their logo and assets, you have to adhere to the specific color coding laid out in the fine print.

Which means you'd have to go back and retroactively adjust every piece of work that uses official assets, in theory. Their reaction was amusingly spergy, I do agree.

i hate change good on the discorders

Yup.

In my case I have a very legitimate reason for hating it, I've damaged my right hand enough over time that the discord changes forces a wider range of movement with the thumb to do even basic shit like changing channel in the same damn discord which makes for some lovely twinges. When I found the toggle to switch back to the old layout they prompted a feedback box for input. Big mistake.

Would prefer to drop it entirely but I have old close friends who are too stubborn and inflexible to move to a new platform that isnt so obliviously hostile to good design sensibilities.

A bit of a meandering off the main subject of Discord, but why do tech companies and shit always change their UI so often? I don't understand this. They've been re-inventing the wheel for a better part of a decade now and I don't feel like UI has gotten any better since at least 2014. If anything it's gotten worse.

Just because I hate Discord users a little more than Discord itself; I hope they do not change. The users bark but have no teeth because they are addicted to the bought and paid for status. Without Nitro, they are nothing. #AnAVerDiscordUser

we need something based on a protocol like IRC or matrix but less complex and hard to figure out how clients and usernames work like matrix basically have 1 big instance thats like discord that links with any of the other smaller instances make sense?

Fuck with the design, and subtly fuck with it over time, then pitch a new design and repeat. Literal make busy work. A stable well thought out ui design doesn't need to be changed, as it serves its purpose and that doesn't bode well for someone whose job is to design ui's.

That and keeping up with the joneses by chasing apple's design philosophy.
