Nutrek / New Star Trek / 2009 - Present day - The most embarrassing production modern television has ever seen

The musical episode where everyone sings awful pop songs. The episode where they blame WW3 on January 1st footage. The quirky retarded lines where characters say "COOL BEANS!" There is lots to complain about with that shitshow.
This is why I say Star Trek ended with Enterprise. I watched the new movies, but other than that, the stench of disrespect has kept me away from nutrek. Don't forget they shoved Stacy Abrams in

So it's still cancer but it's first stage cancer and that somehow makes it good?

I think as far as initial seasons for Trek goes, it wasn't actually that bad. I would argue that TNG is much, much cringier in its first two seasons than BNW. TNG/DS9/VOY has the benefit of 7 seasons to refine itself. I really don't find it to be that cancerous if you go off the premise that it's trying to be more spaghetti western and TOS like. I also think Star Trek has a curse on its first two seasons because most of the franchise is shit during that phase so I give it a benefit of doubt.

It's not perfect by any means but neither has any other part of the Trek franchise par maybe TOS been during its early seasons.

So you based your entire experience off the pilot episode and a gorn episode? Gotcha.

Have you ever heard of the curse of ST's first two seasons? I think you might want to rewatch TNG/Voy/Enterprise because those all had season 1/2 much worse than SNW.
It's funny how the pilots of TNG/VOY and ENT kept me coming back for more, whereas the SNW pilot and a gorn episode that faggots like you were gushing over turned out to be more shit not worth watching.
The OP should hold you up as an example of the level of faggot who likes this Nu-Trek stuff. As a lover of musical theatre, and SNW, you're 100% faggot.

Hey, early TOS was kino, The Concience of the King is a great murder mystery, Arena has the best fight in sci fi, Tomorrow is Yesterday literally shoved in a F-104 starfighter, careful where you be steppin

Akiva Goldsman and Alex Kurtzman are the showrunners. SNW doesn't deserve any good faith.

That's probably the most compelling argument made against the show tbh.

You brought up the Gorn, not me. Go back on your meds, shoo now.

That's why I said par TOS. TOS is the exception to the rule on the weird way early seasons of Trek turn out. Trouble with Tribbles is one of my favourite episodes of Trek.

Looking at TNG Season 1, there were some real gems in there...
Datalore, Conspiracy, The Neutral Zone, The Battle, Heart of Glory...hell even the Naked Now was pretty entertaining

There were some gems but the overall construction of the show was an absolute mess in those seasons, it also has some of the most embarrassing moments of Star Trek.

At least Q was still in his prime... before, well, we know what they did to Q.

As opposed to SNW where the only problems are brought on by the incompetent producers. TNG started as a super ambitious show with no budget. If you watch the interviews, you'll see that literally every actor said, "I didn't think the show would go on for more than a season because you can't make Star Trek again." It beat the odds and became one of the biggest shows on syndicated television, often beating the most popular sitcoms of the time.

DS9, VOY, and ENT all tried to do something new and unique after TNG and they all succeeded in their own way. Nutrek has the budget. The franchise is strong to the point where they don't need Kirk and Spock to make successful TV shows. There is just no excuse for "UHHH THE FIRST SEASONS ARE BAD COZ STAR TREK I GUESS!" There is no excuse for the failure that is modern Star Trek. The writers and producers deserve to be homeless.

Nah, they actually do, hence SNW having both Kirk and Spock lol. SNW is a collection of forgettable retards without the recognizable characters. Besides the Enterprise looking fucking slick, it's about all I liked about the show.

Star Trek 2009 intrigued me because it felt like the actors were excited to be there. There was an attempt. But the further out we get, the more obvious JJ's hackery is. He doesn't care about accuracy, or about lore. Doesn't care about character development, or working relationships. Doesn't care about themes, or aesthetics except "looks cool i hope(?)". Star Trek 2009 was just his bid to get Star Wars in 2015, which was the same thing;
Killing off a beloved character to drive the new ones. I agree with the others here that in general Enterprise was the end of "proper" star trek shows. But that said in regards to the fanbase at large, I wouldn't consider it to be proper star trek. In that sense, the "true end" of Star Trek to me is:

TOS: Star Trek VI
TNG: "All Good Things"
DS9: "What You Leave Behind"
VOY: Don't care.
ENT: Don't care. Nice try though.
Everything else in terms of TV or film is non-canon to me.

They do. A competent writer really doesn't. I honestly wish Kurtzman and his buddies go homeless. They do not deserve to be employed in entertainment.

Kirk will always be the ever hammy William Shatner to me. And I don't care what anyone says, Star Trek V is funny as shit, sexy daning Uhura ftw

If Star Trek V was the first movie, sexy Uhura would have worked... and in general the cast would have been able to handle a jumped-up TOS script.
The Motion Picture is kino. Perfect even, the ultimate filter between the nutrek fan and one who has actually immersed himself in Trek

I liked the hammy TOS crew in Star Trek IV. Chekov really stole the show in that movie. Chekov doesn't do much in TOS but he can be very funny when they actually give him lines.

I used to be in this discord that was about discussing another franchise, it was like in depth novel and lore conversations but we had this off topic area and this one guy spent like 2 years essentially talking to himself trying to bring up Discovery and Picard and how every single complaint anyone had was wrong and when SNW dropped how it proved (somehow) those other shows were good too and there was NEVER any continuity mistakes or character inconsistencies (which is retarded to say about any franchise) and some people took the bait and argued with him but I just thought he was an annoying faggot and anyways at one point he sperged out because no-one would agree with him and then someone pointed out the discord wasn't even about star trek and he had a full on melty and it came out he had only read like 2 books of what the discord we were on was even for. Why am I telling you all about this? because I assume he's a good marker for the type of people nutrek fans are and what the quality of said shows must be like.

the only snw episode i can recommend is the season 1 finale quality of mercy. which is basically a remake of the tos episode errand of mercy balance of terror. in fact, watch the two episodes back to back, and you can get the feel of why og trek fans dislike nutrek.

for me, there is a lack of tension from snw throughout the episode as opposed to tos version. too many quips in snw that doesn't realistically fit during the context of the scenes.

with snw, i really hate what they did with the gorn. making them the alien franchise xenomorphs. the snw gorn comes across as mindless animals. in the reality of nutrek, i understand the gorn at birth are not intelligent and are wild animals, but the gorn are a space faring species. the gorn, as a species, should be intelligent enough to not plant their eggs in uncontrol environments. it is almost as if the nutrek writers wants to have the gorn be two contradictory things: an intelligent species on par with the federation and wild beasts that don't have a mind of their own.

edit. balance of terror
