It’s because they hate the fact that even though the indie development scene is dominated by extremely far left wing people, every single ultra successful indie developer is conservative.
 
Whenever I see video game award shows I always take their lists of best games and use it as a list of games to avoid because these people have some of the worst taste in video games that I've ever seen. The only one there that I played this year was Baldur's Gate 3 and it was a ok game but really nothing all that special.

It'll make game developers bitch about living up to expectations if it wins so vote for that shit.
 
The only reasons to watch this shitfest are as follows:
1. To see game reveal trailers that you can watch later get showcased live at random intervals
2. To use whoever won GOTY or got nominated for GOTY as a weapon against other games if you're an Xbox/Playstation fanboy
3. To wait for the next Bill Clinton Kid impersonator to waltz on stage and say something stupid.

I fear that Geoff Keighley is gonna invite the Bill Clinton Kid to stage some kind of unfunny scripted reenactment and ruin the joke entirely.

The kid seems like a shitlord. He made Hasan Piker cry like a pussy which probably isn't that hard to do tbh. If Keighley's handlers try and do something gay like that, I think they'll be biting off more than they can chew.

It’s mostly the PlayStation fanboys these days that are the trouble. All the annoying Xbox 360 users shifted over to PlayStation after Microsoft dropped the ball hard with the Xbox One and so that’s why it seems like all these weird PlayStation fans cropped up post 2017.
I swear the console war shit wasn’t this bad even when Uncharted 4 came out. It really and truly ramped up in 2018 with the Spider-Man and God of War hype.
I truly don’t remember all the console war shit in 2013-2017. People were just playing games.
It’s become worse than the PS3 vs Xbox 360 days, which was bad.


Xbox and a lot of 3rd party games have been getting snubbed at the game awards for years, it’s nothing new. Sony was gif mad when Shat of Us lost to GTA V in 2013 and when Uncharted 4 lost to Overwatch in 2016 so they’ve been throwing boat loads of money at Geoff Keighly ever since. They must’ve not cared as much abour Ratchet and Clank in 2021.
Red Dead Redemption 2 losing to Dad of Boy 2018 was absolutely ridiculous. It was the biggest game of the year and everyone played it across both consoles.
The VGA’s have become like The Oscars, where shitty undeserving games win GOTY every year unless they’re blatantly super popular like Elden Ring.

Remember 2020 when Shat of Us 2 swept despite most people believing Ghost of Tsushima should’ve gotten it?
 
Game awards have always and will continue to be just another way to sell product with help from game "journalists". The only opinion that matters is your own.

Ma dude. At least we got a pretty generous event with decent production value. Snow White is a hell of a welfare unit and the extra event lore is nice, though it kind of spoils some later plot points from the campaign.

Nigga wat? Racing is the oldest sport in human history. The highest paid athlete in history was a chariot racer. What do you think came first, games involving points and accessories, or a person saying to another "hey, I bet I can run to that rock faster than you"?
