Maybe I'm just out of the loop, but aren't esports severly down from their peak popularity in the United States? The FGC will always exist, but "esports" hit peak cultural impact sometime around the early years of Overwatch when a bunch of ignorant rich people threw money at it. I imagine those investments, along with the opportunity to platform more diverse sex pests, is the reason why they're shoehorning it into the 2023 show.

I’m kind of confused how Pikmin 4 can be nominated as both a Family Game and a Sim/Strategy Game. It almost sounds contradictory by nature, since most families don’t have time to figure out strategy games with the kids they have.

Starfield getting snubbed was a given because it’s an Xbox exclusive. Any other points are moot because of Spider-Man 2 being present.
Starfield could have been Bethesda’s best game ever, making MorrowBoomers and New Vegas fags unite in singing it’s praise and it still would have been snubbed simply because it’s an Xbox game first party game.

cause while it is an RTS, it's still fairly simple and the family category was pretty much made for 1st party nintendo games, even if something like Pikmin 4 could totally be a goty nominee.
