It's been addressed a little already, but the .308 is basically the civilian equivalent of the military 7.62 round (IIRC, it's a tiny bit thinner, with maybe some reduction in power and projectile size.)

.308 and 7.62x51 are the SAME.
Like .223 and 5.56x45

The only differences is that they use different pressure standards for the loadings, for some reason, because metric or some bullshit.

Edit: AK's in .308/7.62 NATO are a thing Stateside, don't make go and get pictures. Fun fact: 7.62 Nato uses a smaller bullet than Russian 7.62, a .308 bullet vs .311 for the Russians.

I can sorta understand local police having difficulties looking for this but they got the county and state police involved in about 2 hours with the feds coming in some time after and EVERY single lead has been a dead end. I'm glad our intelligence bureaus have shown they are equal to Israel's; our tax dollars truly didn't go to waste. My guess would be to look toward Canada, Nova Scotia. It's a port, if his intentions aren't to kill himself but to get away, a port would be the place to do it.
