Using proper software to neutralize the tracking dots? And then checking it under UV light? If you're doing this type of shit, and you don't want to risk getting into legal trouble because you got identified, you don't want to take any chances.

And as for "knowing" how to backtrace it, assuming cops will give a shit, he hands the print to the cops, the cops check the MIC, look up who bought the printer with that serial number, and then they know who it belongs to. It's already been used to lock up whistleblowers, so it's possible, and it's also highly likely cops can do those lookups too.

Bonus points if it's one of those printers that connects to the Internet, then the printer manufacturer can give them the exact details of where that printer is located since they can phone home to that specific printer, and who knows what other nasty things they put in the firmware.

Case in point: if you do any sort of IRL trolling or spooking like that, don't be a retard and take precautions, because you might end up trolling someone who will be hellbent on figuring out who did it and you'll leave enough of a snail trail for it to be easy.

Definitely a better idea than using a printer you personally purchased that can be traced directly back to you. You end up adding more hoops to jump through than just cops doing a readout, hitting up Canon/HP to tell them who has that printer, and having all your info while sitting on an XXXXL-sized office chair.

This is Hamburgeristan, if someone is insistent enough they'll get the cops to investigate it over stalking/harassing and then file a lawsuit if the print had yellow dots. This is the same country where the president invited a demon troon to the White House so anything is possible.
