Those hobbies are a niche the autists and social outcasts feel comfortable in. Trannies and autism overlap and most trannies are (or rather were) social pariahs. Programming and sysadmin is the white collar version of underwater welding - lots of money but crazy hour and competence requirement. Computer touching is not a 9 to 5 job, you're done when you're done and if, say, a bank's database craps out in the middle of the night you're expected to wake up and fix it immediately. It's all very lonely and stressfull and from what I've seen women tend to like having a social life and perform worse under pressure due to having less testosterone.
