The comments under that post are a salt mine of people who will never have children impotently seething at people who do.
It also mildly triggers my autism the way everybody blames gender reveal parties per se when these viral mishaps occur, instead of, you know, using pyrotechnics outdoors in California's dry season, or bad plane maintenance/pilot error/whatever happened in this clip (apparently the plane spiraled out of control when one of the wings collapsed, killing the pilot). Not going to lose sleep over it because at this point I know these people always argue in bad faith, but it's still annoying.

Much as I'd love to see Elon successfully pull this off, isn't it a lot harder to prove a defamation claim in the case of public figures?

Not a lawyer but i did watch the depp trial so i'm basically an expert. Public figure have a much higher treshold . basically to win you have to prove not only that the lie caused you damages (as is the case for us unknown plebs) but that the lie was made with actual malice. You have to PROVE that they knew they were lying but decided they wanted to hurt you.
At least from those tweets Elon seems to have the ''damages'' part pretty settled, if he actually gets advertiser to come in and say ''yes, the ADL shit made us pull out because X Y Z'' The actual malice part will be tough unless they somehow get a bunch of greenblat emails spelling out that he want to ruin elon because he hates him.

There's also the issue of perverts planting cameras. This is a huge problem in Korea.
Even if a pervert has occasional access to a single sex space, having rubber stamped legal access to it is a huge boon. They can comfortably take all the time they want to plant a camera and make sure it's hooked up right. Rape is the most dramatic example, but sure, it's definitely rare. But there's a lot of less dramatic, but no less serious crimes that are a lot more common and they're enabled by mixed sex spaces.
Ultimately, all of this nonsense just erodes the ability for women and girls to feel comfortable using public bathrooms, and by extension, their ability to function in public in general.
As goofy as it sounds, this is a surprisingly serious civil rights issue. India, for example, is a huge rapefest and also lacks good public bathrooms. The consequence? Girls don't go to school.
