Yep, I’m in. Heck, drop a link, I might need a copy.
The book is called Smith's Recognizable Patterns of Human Malformation. As I mentioned, it's still in print, currently in its eighth edition, and widely considered an essential text. For a medical textbook, it's surprisingly affordable, especially in past editions, so if you're interested, it's definitely worth browsing used book sites.

Here is an affordable used copy of the second edition, published 1974, and there are always older copies floating around Thriftbooks and the like. I particularly like the end papers, which are intended to be an at-a-glance guide to critical timepoints in fetal development. It's very midcentury and cool.

Since people are interested, I'll work on it this week!

"Birthed a homie with an extra chromie" I think the kid might not be the only one with an extra chromosome here
Shit, this family popped up in my explore for some bloody bollocks reason, the Mother seems to enjoy letting the older girl manhandle the shit out of the baby because it's ''cute''.

All fun and games until she decides to lash out with intent.

This is so insanely unsafe...

Also, good news on the RETT front. Adult with infantile form after 6 weeks on a new drug gained ability to use hands to grasp items and can sit unassisted.

Article Thread Here.
I saw a charity like that at a beach before but it was mostly old obese crippled adults with crutches, boots and beetus feet being helped to go in the ocean with special mats and wheelchairs by volunteers, also young like this. IDK if it's smart to trust some kids and a flimsy board with a profoundly disabled person with no ability to swim or breathe without a ventilator.

It's totally about affirming the dignity of life though!!!
Apparently Texas has even had a rise in infant mortality rates due to all the FUBAR potato fetuses women are being forced to gestate. The article talks about another woman forced to gestate and birth a doomed fetus due to being unable to afford an abortion out of state, this one with complete alobar holoproscencephaly (this article has more info about her case). It lived 4 days, couldn't eat, and had a giant, fluid-filled head that forced her to get a c-section (and deal with all the risks associated including having to wait over a year before trying to get pregnant again).

There's nothing pro-life about forcing women to gestate doomed fetuses. There's no way you can get a healthy, living baby out of an anencephaly fetus. It's going to die no matter what. I'm sure these women wished more than anyone that there was a way they could get a living baby out of their pregnancies.

It really is just pointless cruelty to women for the sake of pointless cruelty to women.

I was just talking with my partner about this yesterday: I really don't understand the agenda of these "pro-lifers". Like, with the transing of kids for example, I can see how something like "big pharma" could get behind making lifelong medical patients of a bunch of confused homosexuals, but what is the point of making women carry doomed fetuses to term? Sure there's a religious element behind it, but it seems the church has been way more lenient with other stuff so why all this potato farming?

They just hate women is my guess. Or they think forcing women to gestate doomed fetuses will magically transform them into prolifers instead of just traumatizing them further or something.

Hardcore prolifers tend to dance around the issue of fatal fetal anomalies, like prolife propaganda sites will refer to anencephaly zombabies as just "disabled" and the term incompatible with life makes them butthurt. They also hold up women who chose to gestate doomed pregnancies to term and insist it made them super special and life-affirming, like Sarah St. Onge or whatever her name was with the FUBAR inside-out baby that lived less than an hour (who also thinks children should be forced to give birth to the spawn of their rapists).

They don't seem to realize forced potato-farming is the kind of thing that freaks out the normies, and even some of their own since there are prolifers who think abortion of fetuses with lethal anomalies should be allowed.

They literally just hate women and want them to suffer. There is nothing "pro-life," they're just evil fucks.

I was "pro-life" when I was a teen, because I thought pregnancy was easy! You only ever saw the final product, the perfect newborn, so what was the problem for those stupid whores? If they didn't want a baby, then they shouldn't have had sex!

I didn't see, or know, all the steps in-between. It's like knowing how the sausage is made. Now I know the odds of having the perfect newborn. The chances of not having a C-section, the amount of money it costs to give birth.

I can't even be mad at home birthers, because hospitals are fucking terrifying to me.

And it isn't a physical toll for the women to be pregnant, right? That one bitch had, what, 19 kids?
That didn't fuck her up, right?
Needless to say, I'm no longer pro-life.

Fuck, this is terrifying.
I'm a woman who's exploring having their first child, and I live in Texas. So far, the plan for my husband and I is to spend my final months/trimester in his home state, because his mother is a retired midwife. I'm horrified at the cesarean rates in my area, and the overall lack of care for pregnant women makes me so sad. He's said all of his coworkers with kids have had one, and they don't seem to realize how unnatural it all is.

It's probably an combination of people overestimating the absolute limits of medical science, an specific faction or two of fundies (I know that Quiverfull is one of them), and some random argument against eugenics (although, the only people who actually mentioned this are an small group of speds, so take it with an grain of salt).

Of course, there's also the occasional boomer politician who believes that the Bible should be the law of the land.
