Can online porn ID supporters explain to me why Kiwifarms should be exempt from these laws? The Farms may not be a porn site but it certainly is an adult site.

To me, "porn" can range from extremely dark, to degrading but mainstream (like promoting promiscuity or even adultery), to light stuff like "pin-ups" and "fanservice" of fictional characters. But in Current Year America, "porn" can be more or less lumped together and opposed by leftists and conservatives. That, combined with the memory of the absolute freakshow that was 2020 and coronapanic, lead me to doubt that such invasions of privacy as "porn ID" and "device-level filtering" won't become a thing.

Wouldn't this law just help with DVD sales? It's not like your local sex shop across the street from the self-storage is keeping a database of who comes into their store.

North Carolina has amended and passed House Bill 8, originally focused on high school graduation requirements, with "the Pornography Age Verification Enforcement Act" with requirements similar to that of Louisiana's original bill. It goes into effect right at the start of 2024.

My question is do people still get pork from dedicated websites? I thought most younger people get shit from Discord/Reddit/Twitter? I mean good for them for trying to stem the flow but they are a decade late on that one.

How are the most authoritarian countries that have porn bans, i.e. China and North Korea, fairing in regards to enforcement of their said porn bans? Surely, getting sentenced to life in prison for porn possession (as well as your entire family being imprisoned in the case of Best Korea) would be a big dis-incentive.

This kind of crap is terrifying beyond belief. An invasion of privacy and violation of fundamental rights. Based largely on bullshit theory and moral panic. It's also dangerous on a fundamental level in multiple ways. Those fighting against should frame it as it really is.. Blackmail identity theft enablement laws.
I also don't see how these are going to hold up in the courts. Plus any sites hosted in these states are just going to leave anyway.

As others have said, this will be used to target wrongthinkers and push for a universal Internet ID. As far as stopping porn goes, it's closing the barn door years after the horse got out.
Comparing porn and heroin is a bit apples and oranges, but porn can definitely be up there in the damage it inflicts. See this thread:

Often, when a person transitions their life completely crashes and burns and they also become a shell of their former self, unrecognizable to their family and friends. The only other things I've heard of causing these kind of massive personality shifts are severe PTSD and drugs. Porn doesn't cause the kind of direct physical ruination that drugs can, but it's frightening how falling into these behavior patterns can dissolve someone's personality. There are lots of cases of men trooning, emptying their family's bank account buying dresses and abandoning their children. Before I heard these stories the only thing I could imagine influencing a person to act this way would have been hard drugs.
And while porn isn't as bad for your body, the flip side of that is that it could be even harder for people addicted to it to quit. You can get it for free from any Internet-connected device. To keep a drug addiction going you need cash, and that combined with health problems will lead many people to hit rock bottom, at which point they have no choice but to quit or die.
