Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Discuss.

New threads should be made like this.

I don't care about saving it, I just want to mabye make it a little more readable by removing the ability of 3 to 5 retards to spam articles nonstop all day long. That @clipartfan92 guy in particular just spams articles nonstop like a shitty RSS bot.
Yeah limit users ability to post, that will solve the issue. Cope seethe and dilate.
I only use the board to comment on whatever article interests me, since I can't comment on most articles these days and I'm not signing up to 100000 different websites just to post one comment. Take away random article spam and you take away what makes the board readable for someone like me. I know this may come as a shock to you, but the news does in fact change every day, sometimes every hour.

Not limiting the ability to post, just limiting their ability to start threads chief. Most of us that post stories find 1-2 a day at best, it really does feel like some people just throw whatever they find up as opposed to picking the good stuff.

At the end of the day it's a lot of conflicting poster types here, we all like the news, problem is we all like different types of news.

Maybe just more options for tags, and a clear idea of what each should be used for along with a good bit of encouragement to use? I really don't have much of a solution other than breaking things up along newspaper section lines into subforums. (sorta / I know it'll be a nightmare)

It still feels like the easiest solution at the end of the day in my mind though? Like I'm trying to be constructive here.

lol. Have fun distinguishing "the good stuff". Who do you trust to this lofty position? Get real. Maybe I like commenting on shitty inconsequential stories because it's fun. You have Mass Debates for your epic and totally serious news items.

You know you can filter by subforum and from: user, right? As official Judge Supreme of what should be posted on A&N, would you say 5 pages of posts is the minimum to be considered a positive contributor to the board? Or should I aim for a bit more before voicing my opinion?
Nigger.

So continuing with our productive discussion, would you say a simple rating system would suffice to determine what kind of thread should be allowed on this board? I mean, we already have scores, it would be easy to integrate. Wasn't there a really popular thread based website that had a similar rating system? What was the site called again? Bread git? Pleb knit? Shred it? Something like that. I hear it's a really good bastion of free and open discussion that never gets censored or falls victim to groupthink.

I legit do wanna avoid any stupid points shit, it's more the splitting up of subjects that seems to be the major problem as of now. I honestly think it'd cut down on a bit of drama you see in some of the threads too. Least unless the people go looking for trouble.

More subjects for tags (and multiple!) and encouragement to use them when starting a threads. Like I've said a few times before but nobody seems to acknowledge.

Basically so I'm not staring at 10 tranny in a school molested a kid, 4 barbie threads, 5 about some random entertainer that's in vogue atm...

I have no idea what you meant by this unless you just want more tags or something. I just read headlines and click on ones that interest me. Call someone retarded and rate dumb then move on. I think you're asking for more rules when you should be asking people to act like adults. Like I pray you will do instead of prolonging a pointless discussion because you feel slighted somehow.

Then you are doing exactly what I said, just being a drama whore so move along. I was pretty damn clear in what I said I can't help you're being willfully obtuse.

I'd say that if you don't like it, just don't look at it.

I mean, this isn't 4chan, threads can't really be slid the same way.

When is the last time you looked at article past page 2?

Guy got snarky with the people pointing out the problem before I snapped at him.
I got snarky with him because he started the bullshit with this:

So to call me a retard and even single me out doesn't deserve a snarky response? You've got to be a female with how much of a bitch you're being about the topic. Just scroll past the topics that don't meet your standards, is it that difficult? Do you get upset on the lolcow boards when one of them doesn't meet your high standard of lolcowery?

Again, the topics get engagement and the whole purpose of a website is to drive engagement.

You are on Kiwi Farms, we call people we like niggers and faggots every day, get over it. (you were totally posting like a RSS bot with how frequent you were doing it)

You newfags don't get the culture at all.
