Also, what does human capital have to do with marriage?
I really think you’ve read too many ideologically-inclined blogposts. Because what you’re saying is missing a lot of nuances. The devil is in the details, always.
For human history we did fuck-all besides farm or forage. Being smart wasn’t as important. And
dumb in this context doesn’t mean “bad at math”, it means being a serial fuck-up who can’t fulfill their obligations. That’s what human capital has to do with marriage.
Low human capital is what this whole site exists to catalogue.
Regarding “independent”, that is how the term is often used, but being helpless is still bad. Find a golden mean.
We’d just be debating definitions here— we both agree about what’s bad in this instance.
I think you let your views of reality be colored by social media far too much. Which means you get an exaggerated and one-sided view— It’s not that colleges are super great but that the non-college population is really dysgenic.
Yeah that's probably true. But the question wasn't about marriage, the question was about being childless, because none of these college graduate spouses are actually reproducing.
Truthfully, I think this is a non-sequitur. If smart people are having too few kids (always been a problem btw) then valuing dumb women would only accelerate the trend.
But also I’m not positive it’s true (among whites). Marriage is correlated with fertility.
But I’m fine leaving that conclusion in a tentative state.
