As Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis continues to relish her big win at Sunday’s Academy Awards, she’s making it a point to honor her family.
Appearing on “Today” on Tuesday, Curtis told hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie that she will be referring to her Oscar statue using they/them pronouns “in support of my daughter Ruby.”
Curtis, a longtime LGBTQ+ advocate, shared in 2021 that her daughter is a transgender woman.
As she lifted the golden statuette next to her face while video chatting with Kotb and Guthrie, Curtis said, “Here they are! In support of my daughter Ruby, I’m having them be a they/them.”
Curtis continued to say that “they are doing great, and they’re settling in” in reference to her statuette. “In my life, I never thought in a million years that I would have these couple days, and I’m very moved by the whole thing.”
Curtis won her first Oscar for her supporting role as Deirdre Beaubeirdre in “Everything Everywhere All at Once” on Sunday. The film went on to be the night’s biggest winner with seven wins, including best picture.
Ruby Guest is one of two children shared by Curtis and Christopher Guest, who are also parents to 34-year-old daughter Annie.
In May 2022, Ruby Guest wed their partner Kynthia in a cosplay-themed wedding.
“Yes they do and did!” Curtis wrote in the caption of a photo shared on her verified Instagram that showcased the newlyweds embracing.

Trans flight attendant famed for airline ad dies by suicide: ‘Sorry I could not be stronger’ Article archive
Transgender flight attendant Kayleigh Scott — who gained fame after appearing in a United Airlines commercial — was found dead Monday in her Colorado home. She was 25.
Scott, who shared her transition story for a 2020 Trans Day of Visibility video produced by United, declared in a 2:30 a.m. Instagram post that she was planning to end her life.
“As I take my final breaths and exit this living earth, I would like to apologize to everyone I let down. I am so sorry I could not be better,” reads the emotional Instagram post. “To those that I love, I am sorry I could not be stronger. To those that gave me their everything, I am sorry my effort was not reciprocated.”
When reached by The Post for comment, reps for United said, “We are incredibly saddened by the tragic loss of Kayleigh Scott and extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends and co-workers.”
According to comments on her final post, Scott’s friends called Denver authorities, asking them to do a welfare check on the flight attendant.
Scott continued, “Please understand that me leaving is not a reflection of you, but the result of my own inability to turn myself for the better. To Ashley, Cynthia, Regine & Sophia. I am so sorry. Please remember me for the good memories we have shared, and never for my downfall. I will see you all again on the other side.”
A spokesperson for the Denver Police Department said an investigation is ongoing and that the final determination of cause of death will be made by the Denver Medical Examiner’s Office, the Los Angeles Blade reported.
However, Scott’s sister, Ashley Scott, later commented to confirm her sister’s death.
“To all who have commented and those watching this post, Kay has passed,” Ashley said. “Thank you for your concern and outpouring of love for her. We are going to miss her so much.”

Gay, lesbian, bi, trans, pan, whatever, whoever you identify as, come out to be counted.”

“My life changed for the better when I came to United as a flight attendant. Details surrounding the end of her life remain unclear, but several of her friends revealed that she struggled with depression.

“2022 has been a year packed with upset and difficulty,” wrote Scott in a New Year’s Eve Facebook post. “I saw too much death & loss in my life, I came to realize I work a meaningless job for a company that doesn’t value me as an employee.”
“I had my heart destroyed, I lost my nice little home and had to downsize significantly and start over,” continued the post. “I’m really struggling to find happiness and hope. I’m begging 2023 to be better to me. Please.”
Scott’s mother also posted about her daughter’s passing.
“I now have words, my mind is completely rushed with thoughts of you and you like a flooded river are just rushing though my heart,” wrote Andrea Sylvestro. “Kayleigh Scott … I am so unbelievably proud to have you as my daughter, proud and amazed by everything that you have done in your life, your smile was absolutely beautiful, your laughter was unbelievably contagious, your heart was bigger than any of us could have ever understood.”
Sylvestro’s lengthy tribute continued: “I miss you so much already, everything that you have been through, every morning you woke up and looked in that mirror, I hope you saw what we all saw.. a beautiful, eloquent, compassionate, courageous beautiful soul! love you so so much,” continued the post. “Fly high my beautiful daughter, I will not let a day go by that I don’t honor your name and everything you stood for.”
“Go climb those mountains, live free and let the wind take you away…all my love my beautiful girl,” concluded the post.
According to Scott’s Instagram, she was an avid skier and mountain climber.
The Post reached out to United and Denver police for comment.
Meanwhile, Scott’s death has sent shock waves through the LGBTQ+ community.

ESPN recognized Lia Thomas in a TV special dedicated to Women’s History Month, sparking outrage from female competitors who swam against the transgender-identifying man from the University of Pennsylvania.
The segment honored Thomas for being the first transgender athlete to win a NCAA Division I championship title by winning the 500 freestyle race.
“Thomas made her debut as a member of the women’s team in December 2021,” the network said in a glowing highlight, complete with uplifting instrumental music, of the student’s collegiate swimming career. Thomas was on the men’s team until sophomore year, after which he began transitioning.
ESPN interviewed Thomas about the decision to transition for the segment.
“Being trans is not a choice. I didn’t have any other choice because not transitioning was not leading me anywhere,” Thomas said.
Rather than applaud female swimmers who have trained for years to earn medals, ESPN cast those who objected to Thomas’s participation in the women’s category as being not inclusive or accepting.
“She said she hopes her persistence serves a larger purpose,” ESPN said of Thomas.
“People will say, ‘oh she just transitioned so would have an advantage so she could win,” Thomas said, addressing recent criticisms. “I transitioned to be happy.”
In July, the University of Pennsylvania nominated Thomas for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award. Thomas later lost the bid. Since entering the women’s division, Thomas has dominated the female competition, beating pool, school, and Ivy League records.
Female University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines, who has raced against Thomas, blasted ESPN’s move to celebrate him as a female trailblazer, demanding a boycott of the network.
“Lia Thomas is not a brave, courageous woman who EARNED a national title. He is an arrogant, cheat who STOLE a national title from a hardworking, deserving woman. The @ncaa is responsible,” she tweeted. “If I was a woman working at ESPN, I would walk out. You’re spineless @espn #boycottESPN.”

A non-binary model, fronting a campaign for one of Australia's most celebrated swimwear brands, has launched a Trans Lives Matter movement in Melbourne.
Deni Todorovič, 34, who was assigned male at birth but uses they/them pronouns and identifies as non-binary, announced on Saturday that tickets are now available to view a live-streamed gala to raise funds for trans organisations.
The event will feature appearances from the likes of pop star Samantha Jade, drag performer Aysha Buffet and former Australian of the Year Grace Tame.
'Australia. I'm inviting you to stay in tonight and support trans lives with our inaugural TRANS LIVES MATTER Fundraiser. Kick off is 7PM and tickets are $60AUD,' Deni began.
'This is a global live stream event. Watch it anywhere in the world compatible on all devices. Think lockdown vibes and you will also be able to watch it on demand…and joining me are some seriously talented humans both from community and our allies.'

The post comes after it was revealed Deni would be starring in a campaign for Seafolly which is known for its advertisements featuring the world's most famous female models including Miranda Kerr, Gigi Hadid, Shanina Shaik, Lara Worthington, Samantha Harris and Jesinta Franklin.
Deni has become an increasingly formidable name in Australian fashion over the last few years.
Deni's role at Seafolly was celebrated by a number of celebrities, including former brand ambassador Jesinta Franklin.
Many shoppers also left positive comments on Seafolly's official Instagram account to celebrate the label's commitment to diversity.
'As some one who hasn't shopped at Seafolly for years I'll be back now! Love seeing brands be inclusive and that is where I want my money to go,' one woman wrote.
'So amazing to see this, Seafolly. I love to see brands pioneering the celebration of pride and inclusion,' another added.
However, some consumers were less than impressed by Deni's role with the brand.
'This is a joke. We support diversity and individuals' decisions, but we don't want to see women's clothing that we want to purchase on a male body...' commented one.
'There are other ways to support pride and individuals' choices, but not this way. Sincerely, one of your long-time loyal customers.'
Another wrote: 'As a woman, this is not what I want to look like in a bikini.
'I won't be buying this product. People need to get back to reality. Stop making our world into a circus.'
Due to the negative comments, Seafolly was forced to put out a statement condemning the 'hateful language'.
'We are here to celebrate the Australian beach lifestyle and inspire one another to feel confident at the beach,' the brand said.
'In this community, we do not tolerate abusive, offensive, hateful language, trolling, deliberate disruption of discussion, or spam. Please be respectful of each other’s differences and remember to always be kind.'
The gender-bending socialite is also a national ambassador for Bonds underwear.
In 2021, Deni was criticised for turning Melbourne Fashion Week into a 'pride parade' while working on the event as a stylist and curator.
