The Mid Vermont Christian School girls basketball team withdrew from the Vermont Division IV state tournament because of a refusal to play against an opponent with a transgender student-athlete.

The No. 12 seed Eagles were scheduled to play a first-round game at No. 5 seed Long Trail on Tuesday night, but their withdrawal forfeited the game to the Mountain Lions.
“We believe playing against an opponent with a biological male jeopardizes the fairness of the game and the safety of our players,” MVCS head of school Vicky Fogg wrote in an email to the Valley News on Wednesday evening. “Allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports sets a bad precedent for the future of women’s sports in general.”

Fogg declined a request for an interview.
Lauren Thomas, the assistant executive director for the Vermont Principals’ Association, said MVCS sent her a letter stating that it would not be entering the tournament but did not elaborate on its decision.

Long Trail athletic director John Schneble did not respond to requests for comment. The Mountain Lions played their full 20-game regular-season schedule without any issues, finishing 14-6 with 11 wins in their last 12 games. The Eagles’ forfeit sent Long Trail to the quarterfinals Friday against No. 4 seed Arlington.

Vermont law allows transgender female students to play on girls’ sports teams. Among the goals of the VPA’s Activities Standards Committee is to provide “proactive talk tracks for transgender athletes.”

“I have received calls (from schools) asking for best practices and how to go forward knowing they were going to play a team with a transgender female on it,” Thomas said. “We just supported our stance and our best practices through our inclusivity statement.”

Earlier this year, Mid Vermont Christian School submitted a letter to the state Agency of Education seeking permission to receive public tuition funding while also asserting that it reserved the right not to follow all of Vermont’s anti-discrimination laws.

“As a religious organization, the school has a statutory and constitutional right to make decisions based on its religious beliefs, including hiring and disciplining employees, associating with others, and in its admissions, conduct and operations policies and procedures,” Fogg wrote in the Jan. 5 letter. “By signing this form, the Mid Vermont Christian School does not waive any such rights.” To the extent state laws conflict with the school’s beliefs, “including on marriage and sexuality, the school has not included that language in its handbook or online, nor can it affirm that particular aspect of the Vermont Public Accommodations Act.”

Within the next few years, we will absolutely see a school getting sued for taking this very reasonable position. Troons can't stand it when somebody refuses to play this deluded game with them.

I don't blame them, not after that volleyball game last year where some troon player gave a girl a concussion (iirc) by spiking a ball directly into her face. High school girls playing a fresh-outta-puberty high school boy is a legit hazard.

I wish all the other teams had the “balls” so to speak to refuse to play this team with a male on it.

It is sad the other teams didn’t back their position and refuse to play.

are troons the thing which will finally end religious orgs getting tax money? i can totally see this becoming an issue and some LGBT+++++ org suing based on it. im torn here, i think they have every right to refuse to play against failed male athletes, wish more schools would. and i also hate trannies in general, but i also dont want religious schools getting public money. if this became a lawsuit which lead courts to challenge the right of religous schooling in america i wouldn't really have a side to pick.

It's really the only sane thing they can do. When faced up against a troon, the smart thing to do as a female is walk away. Biological males have higher muscle density and higher bone density, and there's no getting around that. It would just be a needless risk of injury with almost no chance of winning. It's just a shame most females feel disempowered to make that decision anymore.

When they outright lie like this, it makes it hard to keep up with what they're even talking about. A female is a female. A transgender female is a female on testosterone, with optional sausage roll attachment. A transgender male is what they should have said here, but they're trying to push the lie that biological sex is something you can change.

Why would you want to stop religious schools from getting public money when the validity of their teachings gets proven more and more with each passing day?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is the end of girls HS and college sports.

Once Juwanna Mann's start dominating on mid tier girls college basketball teams against schools like UCONN, South Carolina, Tennessee, etc it will be.a race for every team to get a couple of trannys. Any guy who can't make it on a men's D3 team will change his pronouns and dominate in D1 women's college hoops.

This is going to become a trend and we'll eventually either see women's sports end altogether or a separate league for transgender players. However I suspect the latter might not happen due to people associating it with the special Olympics in a derogatory way.

Good for them. I am glad this team and the school recognized that not only would playing this team been a waste of time since the MAN would utterly dominate them on the court (because the other team is fucking cheating, no I don't give a fuck what the rules say they are fucking cheating), but also would be a huge safety hazard for the women playing against said MAN.

I believe this “transgendered” social distortion is an attack on one of the foundations of the Bible and our father in heaven, which is that he created us man and woman. It’s similar in scope of them trying to hijack the “pride” flag. The irony is lost on them that it represents their own demise more than their pride.

I think it serves as a fundamental building block for other leftist demonic lunacy - once you get people to not only tolerate but accept such a blatant denial of reality you can get them to accept anything.
