Why would Brianna Wu have a vested interest in people without any sort of degree being allowed to teach? She talks about her alma mater all the time. Unless she never actually got her degree.... But that would make her a liar, and Brianna Wu never lies!

Ahh, I see Wu is going off on her "You don't really need a degree to be successful" kick.
While the basic idea of this can be true, as there are obviously people who have done very well without ever gaining a degree, they are the exception rather than the rule. A degree is not some magical document that grants all knowledge of a specific subject, but it IS basically a certification that (hopefully) indicates that the recipient has demonstrated a certain level of knowledge and proficiency in that subject. That's why they are important, as a way to get your foot in the door so you are able to demonstrate your abilities. Without them, you are relegated to having to prove yourself by doing (which thus far, Wu is failing miserably at) or talking a big game (which appears to be one of the only things Wu is very good at)
Oh, and all those college professors who's academic achievements you are waving away Wu? What makes you think none of them have any experience in private industry? I guarantee some do, and more likely more successful than you. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if a few had actually released a game or two. And as far as being "invited to speak at colleges often", pics or it didn't happen.
