US Single woman’s ‘genius’ tactic to avoid paying for groceries for two years - Gross pan-faced whore ‘could spend my money on other things, like savings, investing or buying a Prada bag.’

With the rising cost of living, it’s no surprise people are pulling out all stops to save money.

One single woman has been hailed a “genius” after she boasted about going on “six dates every week to avoid paying for groceries” over two years.

Vivian Tu, a former Wall Street trader from New York City, explained how she got to enjoy the perks of free dinners after she managed to line up back-to-back dates with men she met on dating apps.

As time went on, the now-28-year-old ended up saving about $A22,100 in 24 months.

“Between 2016 and 2018, I didn’t buy groceries once,” Vivian confessed in an amusing TikTok video.

“Probably saved about $US150 ($A210) a week.”

Poking fun at herself, she joked: “When they say women are bad with money but you used to go on six dates a week to avoid paying for groceries.

“If you dated me between 2016 and 2018, you may be entitled to financial compensation.”

Vivian said she met most of the men on dating apps or when she was out on weekends.

“I was a young woman living in NYC,” she said.

“Did I save money on food by going on dates in my early 20s? Yes.”

“It was a lot of work. And some of those dates were super fun, but others were painful to sit through.

‘Busy investing my money’

“When I was dating more seriously, I’d actually do sober first dates because otherwise I wouldn’t be able to tell if I actually liked them or tequila.

“I was busy investing my money since I wasn’t spending it on food.”

The controversial video was shared on social media in July 2021.

Now one-and-a-half years later, Vivian clarified she “exaggerated” about going out “six nights a week for two years”.

As she was hoping to “find love”, she noticed her weekly spendings on food quickly changed once she started going on back-to-back dates.

“To clarify once and for all, I didn’t start going on dates just for food,” she recently told Elite Daily.

“After actively dating for a while, I knew that for a certain percentage of dates I went on, I wouldn’t be paying. Sometimes we did split the check... but most of the time they would not let me pay, and I’d get to take home the leftovers. I realised that by going on dates, I was saving about $US50 ($A70) to $US100 ($A140) per week.

Saving thousands

“Added together over time, it amounted to thousands of dollars I did not have before - discretionary income I could spend on other things, like savings, investing, and a black Prada bag to replace my tattered Longchamp tote.”

As she was dating in her early 20s, Vivian - who was working as an equity trader earning $A135,000 at the time - said her living expenses were “very high”.

When she shared the video in 2021 about going on six days a week to avoid paying groceries, many weighed in on her financial situation.

“My wife did this with me in college but little did she know marrying my debt would be the ultimate Uno reverse card,” one man joked.

One woman confessed: “Baby I can’t believe someone else did this too - sometimes I’d be double booked.”

‘Work smarter, not harder’

Many described Vivian’s amusing money-saving method as “genius” and “hero”.

“Power moves, girl power,” one said.

Another suggested: “Work smarter, not harder.”

One wrote: “You might be on to something.”

While another added: “Girl. I applaud you. The amount of bulls*** you needed to sit through to get free meals.”

Meanwhile, many women confessed they are all “guilty” of going on dates in exchange for free food.

“I definitely scheduled dates before paydays,” one said, laughing.

Another revealed: “I used to do breakfast, lunch and dinner.”

‘Can’t take a joke’

Not everyone agreed with her tactic, with one saying: “Tell me you’re cheap without telling me you’re cheap.”

However, Vivian quickly responded: “Yikes. Some of y’all really can’t take a joke.”

Vivian started her online educational platform YourRichBFF as a passion project to share her finance secrets.

She has since made a name for herself on social media after being named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list of 2023.

Morality aside, its not even that genius.

Because it's clearly not sustainable, what do you do when you have to leave the dating market but still aren't self-sufficient?

And just having money isn't enough, if you haven't shopped for groceries for 30 years..... you might find yourself at a loss when forced to do it again suddenly.

Being proud to not have functioned in society for years is a special kind of pride in ignorance...... and it leads nowhere good.

I've met more than a few elderly ladies at the gas station, begging for help, because they don't know how to pump their own gas, their husband/the attendant always did it for them.

Of course I helped, what with them clearly being embarrassed to have to ask and willing to learn, but, that requires an approachable and contrite personality.

Turbo-cunts who've always snapped at "the help" and "lower grade men" are going to find it hard to muster that when alone at the pump..... it's pretty much the definition of the Karen.

Watch this start a tiktok trend of other idiot women bragging about doing the same thing, just as oblivious as this twit is, and then inevitably throwing a collective shit fit about how oppressed and abused they are when people rightfully point out how bad it makes them look
I mean shes already rolling it back saying 'it wasnt ACTUALLY 6 dates and I was 'looking for love' guys!' idk I guess I see it with the 'youre not doing it every meal' but saving like 70% on groceries is still 70% off especially if youre never home to use them or only there like 50% of the time.

Its always been kind of known by everyone and women know people know, they couch it under some bullshit (not all women do/its a trade off/those guys know and buy into it) or saying it doesnt happen, with varying levels of success and belief at times, but its always been sort of blabbed about I guess when these girls think theyre getting out of it and stopping--even though most people know not to brag about it.

I think its the woman equivalent of being a gangbanger, like bling-flashing rapper or hollywood type influencer. And I mean I guess, sure, some of that is social media like 'fake life' bullshit.

Parasites like this are why men with money despise modern dating culture and end up going for a younger chick in college to groom instead. The worst are the fucking trad-wife types who are washed up sluts that think being traditional is not knowing how to cook or clean but still being a stay at home partner.

That is really trashy. Why would you ever admit to this let alone brag about it? You shouldn't be proud of being a manipulative, untrustworthy person.

This doesn't sound like saving money and it certainly isn't saving time.

If you were to actually do this - it would take a fair bit of time. Even if you aren't serious about the dates, you still have to "act" like you are - you still have to be presentible, you have to go to the place (which costs money), you have to spend an hour or two there, then however much time going home.

You also have to spend a bunch of time on dating apps trying to schedule all of the dates and there's always time to spend dealing with the initial setup (the openers, "what do you do for a living", "dogs or cats?", etc) plus you'll have to deal with rejecting/ghosting people 6 times a week.

There's no way this amount of effort is worth it for "free" food and it sounds like working an intense second job every single day for virtually no money. Assuming each date takes 4 hours (1 hour on app, 1 hour prep/travel, 2 hours date) and each meal is $20 - she's working as a low class hooker for $5/hour.

It would be time better spent to work at the restaurant part time and just grab a free meal at the end of your shift.

men who've worked the dating scene quickly learn to filter out women like this by having the first date be a low investment coffee date. If she's not down with that then you've saved your money not giving someone a free dinner.
if you really want to filter the worst women out take them on hikes as a first date if you are outdoorsy; works like a charm, no fatties, no cunt princesses, and no gold diggers. though this only will work for the kind of men women would trust being in the woods alone with after just meeting so the results will certainly be mixed for some. you also still have to watch out for the kind of skanks who like to preen around in public with their pussy print showing through yoga pants for attention though.

You know, I was just horrified that I had to pay $4.69 for a dozen eggs. Maybe I should go on a bunch of dates and just ask for a trip to the dairy section at the supermarket instead of dinner.

The obvious reason the story is an exaggeration is that I think she'd still have needed to have gone grocery shopping every so often for other meals or at least snacks if she's not a full breakfast or lunch kind of person. Maybe she could doggy bag some of the leftovers but I doubt that would cover all of the essential staples.

Well if the guy is ok with spending money on dinner it's fine. It would be bad if she was just using a single guy under the rouse of a relationship just to get taken out to eat.

I was once buddies with a guy who was dating a Chinese chick, who would play up this "smol uwu buddhist yoga teacher" esthetic. Dude was so wrapped around her finger, he considered it a high point of his day to make dinner for her and watch her eat it.

Anyhow, one of her games was acting ascetic. She told him she was going to stop "consuming capitalist foods", and begin foraging, begging, and living off whatever The Spirit provides. She made some obligatory blogposts about how filling it was to bake a half eaten apple she found on the street.

It wasn't long before my buddy was emptying his own refrigerator to fill hers - on top of cooking for her. He even trieed a couple times to empty my fridge for his own girlfriend.

This all went well and good until my buddy realized she had at least two boyfriends, when he met her work-boyfriend.

me after clicking on thread: "Yep. Orbiters."

Can you imagine the reaction if a "cis" guy was doing that to girls? Clown World really does want straight men treated like garbage.
They called him the "Tinder Swindler" and it made a whole documentary about him
