US Single woman’s ‘genius’ tactic to avoid paying for groceries for two years - Gross pan-faced whore ‘could spend my money on other things, like savings, investing or buying a Prada bag.’

With the rising cost of living, it’s no surprise people are pulling out all stops to save money.

One single woman has been hailed a “genius” after she boasted about going on “six dates every week to avoid paying for groceries” over two years.

Vivian Tu, a former Wall Street trader from New York City, explained how she got to enjoy the perks of free dinners after she managed to line up back-to-back dates with men she met on dating apps.

As time went on, the now-28-year-old ended up saving about $A22,100 in 24 months.

“Between 2016 and 2018, I didn’t buy groceries once,” Vivian confessed in an amusing TikTok video.

“Probably saved about $US150 ($A210) a week.”

Poking fun at herself, she joked: “When they say women are bad with money but you used to go on six dates a week to avoid paying for groceries.

“If you dated me between 2016 and 2018, you may be entitled to financial compensation.”

Vivian said she met most of the men on dating apps or when she was out on weekends.

“I was a young woman living in NYC,” she said.

“Did I save money on food by going on dates in my early 20s? Yes.”

“It was a lot of work. And some of those dates were super fun, but others were painful to sit through.

‘Busy investing my money’

“When I was dating more seriously, I’d actually do sober first dates because otherwise I wouldn’t be able to tell if I actually liked them or tequila.

“I was busy investing my money since I wasn’t spending it on food.”

The controversial video was shared on social media in July 2021.

Now one-and-a-half years later, Vivian clarified she “exaggerated” about going out “six nights a week for two years”.

As she was hoping to “find love”, she noticed her weekly spendings on food quickly changed once she started going on back-to-back dates.

“To clarify once and for all, I didn’t start going on dates just for food,” she recently told Elite Daily.

“After actively dating for a while, I knew that for a certain percentage of dates I went on, I wouldn’t be paying. Sometimes we did split the check... but most of the time they would not let me pay, and I’d get to take home the leftovers. I realised that by going on dates, I was saving about $US50 ($A70) to $US100 ($A140) per week.

Saving thousands

“Added together over time, it amounted to thousands of dollars I did not have before - discretionary income I could spend on other things, like savings, investing, and a black Prada bag to replace my tattered Longchamp tote.”

As she was dating in her early 20s, Vivian - who was working as an equity trader earning $A135,000 at the time - said her living expenses were “very high”.

When she shared the video in 2021 about going on six days a week to avoid paying groceries, many weighed in on her financial situation.

“My wife did this with me in college but little did she know marrying my debt would be the ultimate Uno reverse card,” one man joked.

One woman confessed: “Baby I can’t believe someone else did this too - sometimes I’d be double booked.”

‘Work smarter, not harder’

Many described Vivian’s amusing money-saving method as “genius” and “hero”.

“Power moves, girl power,” one said.

Another suggested: “Work smarter, not harder.”

One wrote: “You might be on to something.”

While another added: “Girl. I applaud you. The amount of bulls*** you needed to sit through to get free meals.”

Meanwhile, many women confessed they are all “guilty” of going on dates in exchange for free food.

“I definitely scheduled dates before paydays,” one said, laughing.

Another revealed: “I used to do breakfast, lunch and dinner.”

‘Can’t take a joke’

Not everyone agreed with her tactic, with one saying: “Tell me you’re cheap without telling me you’re cheap.”

However, Vivian quickly responded: “Yikes. Some of y’all really can’t take a joke.”

Vivian started her online educational platform YourRichBFF as a passion project to share her finance secrets.

She has since made a name for herself on social media after being named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list of 2023.

‘Work smarter, not harder’

The fact she would say that publicly after admitting what she was doing, oblivious to how manipulative that makes her look says everything you need to know about her. She's an idiot, and not just an idiot, but one stupid enough to brag about using others publicly

Watch this start a tiktok trend of other idiot women bragging about doing the same thing, just as oblivious as this twit is, and then inevitably throwing a collective shit fit about how oppressed and abused they are when people rightfully point out how bad it makes them look

men who've worked the dating scene quickly learn to filter out women like this by having the first date be a low investment coffee date. If she's not down with that then you've saved your money not giving someone a free dinner.

Women: "Omg where has Chivalry gone? Where are all the good men?"

Also Women:

This is why chivalry died and why it deserves to stay dead.

"As she was dating in her early 20s, Vivian - who was working as an equity trader"

No sane trading desk would let a 20 something year old actually trade an account. She was probably just an analyst, shuffling through EDGAR filings all day.

Lie after lie after lie after lie....

Almost every news story that's really just a repost of a TikTok is a lie/embellishment

Wow what a true genius. No other woman before in history has thought of exploiting a man for personal gain. Truly a modern day trailblazer.

Guys I have unfortunate news; it's almost impossible to avoid this completely in the dating scene if you like dinner dates. It WILL happen if you date enough women. Just take them out to some really cheap place, or better yet plan a date night that doesn't involve eating at all. If a woman was fine with you before, but starts acting flaky or different when you suggest not going out to eat as a first date then that will give you pretty conclusive evidence of what she was truly after.

Does it suck people have to resort to this in the modern world? Yeah, but that's just the reality of the situation.

Stay safe kings

Chivalry is dead because of women like her.
I disagree, serially accepting food in exchange for companionship wasn't a problem, because she clearly could do it on the regular. She played the damsel perfectly to her market. Chivalry was killed by feminists who would normally discourage this sort of man-farming, because it's not independent and leaning on men.

She's a hooker that doesn't put out. I'll generally pay for the food on a date but only if we're clicking. The article forces me to assume that she's faking that first interaction. Soulless succubus.

Everything about this story is a lie. Lies from a woman prostituting herself for an overpriced salmon salad that she didn’t eat half of anyway, while pretending she didn’t spread her legs for most of these guys, especially if he drove a nice enough car. Also pretends saving and investing a couple thousand dollars is a big deal, while not accounting for the cost of the make up and perfume she reapplied, the new seasonably fashionable dresses, etc. versus just wearing some sweats and a T shirt to get some food at a grocery store.

It’s a great encapsulation of the dating world in current year plus eight.

Her behavior is gross, but men are fucking pathetic. They'll pay for an expensive meal for the TINY CHANCE at some pussy or future pussy. Don't hate the player hate the game.

Go Dutch at least until you know the respect is going in both directions.

Does she say why she stopped?

Anyways, I'm torn. The behavior is bad, yes. But I was thinking... She was hunting in NYC. What kind of men do I expect to find in NYC? Do I want them to settle down and procreate? She is arguably doing the world a service by keeping them distracted leading them on.

Also, I don't trust a woman who doesn't buy groceries to tell me what groceries cost.

I'm glad I had a sister that warned me about the "let's go get something to eat!" tactic. They're just looking for a free meal, not a for a good time nor a relationship.

American style “dating” is weird. Here, if a lassie went out with a guy on Saturday, and then went out with five other boys the same week, the first guy would give her a black eye, not another date. How do you get from the paying-by-the-hour stage of American dating to the long-term-rental-agreement?
Its because non obese women in the USA are rare so she's already a solid 7.

Dudes are desperate so they'll happily pay on date 1
