North Korea Has Reportedly Executed 3 High Schoolers for Distributing K-Dramas

North Korea has reportedly executed three teenagers for distributing and watching K-dramas from South Korea.

As reported by outlets like Chosun Ilbo, three high school students were caught watching and importing TV shows from their neighboring country in early October. The act of consuming audiovisual content from South Korea is considered a crime as stated in a new law passed in December 2020. While underage individuals were not executed for disobeying the law previously, it seems the punishment is now applicable even to teenagers.

According to reports, the three male students were based in Hyesan, a city near the border between North Korea and China. They watched multiple episodes of South Korean and American TV shows, and were later caught circulating these materials with their peers.

Despite the harsh consequences, it's known that North Korean citizens still consume South Korean content. According to a survey conducted by the Unification Media Group, 96% of respondents noted that they have watched hit K-dramas such as Squid Game and Crash Landing on You.

This isn't the first time North Korea has executed its citizens for being exposed to content from South Korea. Last year, it was reported that seven individuals were killed for watching K-pop music videos, which Kim Jong-un describes to be a "vicious cancer." Meanwhile, in December 2021, the country banned laughing and drinking for 11 days in commemorating the 10th anniversary of Kim Jong-il's death.

I've seen Best Korea propaganda shows and it's no wonder teens want better TV. It's a dystopian nightmare. But if you rebel you get executed. Even if you are a minor.

The article doesn't mention what happened to the boys' families. But I imagine they very well may have been taken away to a prison camp and the other kids who received the k-dramas will be hunted down as well.

I know there are likely all kinds of "drama" media but.. I have mixed feelings since S Koreans are nicked "cuckoreans" largely because of S Korean drama, (and manga and H stuff) basically if it involves relationships in any way, it likely involves cheating, threats of cheating, NTR, cuck, as well as rape/forced/blackmail into cheating (mind/mental/honor-break) or used as threats for such. And that's not even factoring in all the "technically not cheating" crap.. The korens seem obsessed with it. Trash

Yeah I know that sounded pretty random and deranged but... flashbacks at the words "korean drama" lol

That said.... JFC?! No matter how bad the media is... Killing minors or anyone else over media is insane and sheer evil! Their current leader has no excuses either since he spent a good amount of time being educated in other countries. Can't we just nuke them before they gain the ability to truly use nukes themselves?!

Remember: All NK news is fake until proven otherwise.

A whole lot of the time these kinds of reports are later proven to have never happened and they're almost always based on unreliable hearsay in the first place. NK news like this is sensational in SK, the media eats up literally anything they can get be it true or false.

I'm not trying to defend NK, but you should be exceptionally sceptical of this type of "news".
