I used to think the HoL was an outdated and antidemocratic institution in need of abolishing but it turns out that having a job for life means Lords members aren’t frightened of their party members/donors the way Commons members seem to be (special mentions for Miriam Cates, Kemi Badenoch and Rosie Duffield for not giving a shit and standing up to the cocks in frocks and their handmaidens and munchiemoms.

Personal opinion as an American: for democracy to survive, it needs antidemocratic institutions within it to counteract mob rule. Examples in America include the Supreme Court (an unelected body nevertheless appointed by elected officials) and even the Senate (where a single Senator can bring all proceedings to a crashing halt).

The House of Lords is such an institution in the UK and should be preserved.

It's a pretty typical example of Troon narcissism and their general attitude to life, for their response to the nations most high-profile trans charity crashing and burning, is to demand that someone with 'lived experience' i.e. a Tranny be put in charge.

The telegraph article is fascinating reading, (I'm willing to bet whatever dumb fuck was briefing the journalist didn't even realise he was from the Telegraph). I have experience of charitable organisations run by utterly dysfunctional management - and their staff - and many of these quotes rang true. Several of these aren’t even saying that staff did have the right solutions, they’re just saying management was absolute shite. Again, very plausible, particularly with a CEO with “lived experience” and a strong belief she is carrying the burning sword of truth. There are many similar out there.
