oh my god man, just review any other series!
He used to do anime reviews under Animenia even if they were no longer than 10 minutes, but I have no idea why he stopped doing that. He was being hosted on the site through Blip, there wasn't any worry about copyright at the time. Just because Pokémon was more popular doesn't mean he should've given up on talking about other anime. You'd think he would've stepped up to the plate when Hope decided to stop doing anime reviews so that way it wasn't just Bennett ('cause like even MarzGurl had stopped reviewing anime).

It’s funny how Change The Channel was apparently meant to bury Doug and ruin him while propelling all the ones who started the thing into popularity…and yet Doug’s one of the only ones who came out of the whole thing relatively fine.

I know!!! Rose tinted glasses probably, but I liked those reviews. I even didnt mind those "Hot takes" videos he did like 10 years ago

Yeah he meet the french Pornstar Manuel Ferrara while Ferrara was trying to blow up on twitch. He used Benzaie to get more exposure and showed a bit of his word to Benzaie in exchange.

Benzaie went full coomer, hanging out with pornstars and even sending his cock on snapchat (he also put it in his story)
He also makes excuses to crossdress in his video and starred in porn film (he plays the cuck)
Just search Dixie Lynn, Mick Blue & Chris Diamond to find it

So this became reality then.

I believe we did go over this, but Suede was caught by the copyright law guys out in Japan for literally doing entire episode summaries on his channel. He was ordered to pay about 800-1000 USD in fines or else he would be banned from Japan for life even if he payed it off after the penalty was put in place.

It's a pretty steep penalty if you ask me, but personally it couldn't have happened to a better person. Suede didn't even bother to upgrade his reviewing style. That's entirely his fault.

I’ll have to look back at the Patreon post, but he did mention that he could just ignore the order, but he’d be left having to give up a lifelong dream of visiting Japan, and I’m not sure where the talk of banning comes from. Suede just sees Shopro doing an underhanded tactic that could ruin him financially if it happens enough times.

And it was all thanks to JewWario revelations. And then there was all his other flops that didn’t end him.

Ikr, I think due to maybe Covid increasing his view figures and Doug's ability to stick and evolve his particular brand is what kept him afloat, despite being a bit of a controlling hack he is nowhere near the levels of degeneracy of so many of the rest of CA. If you look at the CTC Document all Doug really did was act overly controlling and make unreasonable demands of the staff, It wasn't anything disastrous, Doug keeping his popularity was like the reverse Uno Card meme in real life.

“Popularity” may be pushing it. I think it’s more “he keeps going and every massive blunder he makes doesn’t lead to the end of his career to the dismay of his haters”.

So Benzaie went the way of Chick With Goggles and is now an actual porn star. I mean it would explain Why he was at the AVNs but good for him nonetheless

Lindsay is back. Kind of.

Introducing: Bada Bingstream - Sopranos TV club
One piece of media I've never really touched on (besides a passing mention in one of the Game of Thrones episodes) is the Sopranos, in part because I didn't have much thesis-wise to say about it but mostly because there are approximately 45,000 video essays on YouTube with some variation on titles like "the Genius of James Gandolfini" and "the Genius Psychopathy of Tony Soprano." It's a hard show to describe - somehow "mob boss has panic attacks and starts to go to therapy, hijinks ensue" doesn't really do it justice as a pitch. But several years after watching it for the first time and nearly 25 years since it first aired, it's still a show that sticks with me more than most. In thinking over things I could actually handle doing for Patreon while caring for a newborn full time, seeing people celebrate the work of actor Tony Sirrico on the Sopranos after his recent death had some friends and I thinking, hey, we should do a rewatch, or for some even watch for the first time. Maybe engaging with the Sopranos as a piece of media with a video essay is overdone, but something more impromptu and interactive like a TV club-style biweekly livestream for all six* seasons of The Sopranos might be more fitting. Not only is it an opportunity for people who've seen it to see it again with fresh eyes, it's also an opportunity for people who haven't gotten around to it to engage with it with a community.
The way it works is, we're going to give roughly two weeks for everyone to watch each season, as each season is roughly 13 episodes long (so, about one episode per day). Every two weeks we'll have a patrons-only livestream discussing each season, with the first stream taking place ~Aug 3rd, subject to change (because those damn babies amirite). If you're on the fence, give the pilot a shot and see if you're interested in continuing - people going into the show expecting just another variation on a mob movie might be surprised, and there is a LOT to unpack with regard to The Sopranos. So for those of you looking to get Made, see you in a couple weeks.
*Season six is split into two halves that are each almost a season long in themselves, so we may or may not split season 6 into two streams.

This is an incredible lack of effort into a transition

That's the 3rd one to troon out. The first was JesuOtaku and the second was Luke Mochrie (son of Whose Line Is It Anyway star Colin Mochrie) was with the site for 15 minutes but Doug made sure to kiss his ass by giving him comparatively big parts in his CA "movies."

Iron Liz was the first troon on the site that I was aware of. Also that Diamanda Hagan thing probably is as well.
