Billie Will Always Be The Ultimate Goth Girl

Summer 2022 kicked off with a goth-girl fashion mood that swept the red carpet and the runways. Now, Billie Eilish has put her own spin on the trend with a sultry look for an outing in Singapore, where she recently performed as part of her world tour.

The singer posted a photo dump on her Instagram feed that showed her posing in a lace slip and cami top worn with black Moon Boots and a cap. In one picture in the carousel, she poses on a street in the silky black separates, and in another clip, she is seen running from a sudden downpour, which likely inspired her caption: “A lot can change in 20 seconds.”

Billie is currently sporting black hair, but she’s flitted between blonde and dark since 2021. In her early days in the spotlight, the musician made acid green roots her beauty signature. Her appearance on the June 2021 cover of British Vogue marked a turning point: Billie transformed into a blonde bombshell, dressed in custom boudoir-inspired looks from Burberry, Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Mugler.

She kept her blonde hair for the Met Gala that September, but for this year’s event, she interpreted the In America: An Anthology of Fashion theme in a corseted Gucci look, complete with striking black hair. Billie can play the blonde bombshell when she wants to, but she’ll always have a soft spot for a look with a darker edge.

Have words and definitions become so nebulous that we can't even determine if someone is goth or not? She falls under the generic "alt" tag sure, but "goth", Billie is not.

Back in the 90s, being a “goth” was more than the way you dressed or pretended to mope. It was the music that you listened to, the media you consumed (film and tv), the books you read etc. And how much you insisted that you weren’t actually a goth even though you dressed all in black, dyed your hair black, wore Sisters of Mercy shirts, and prattled on about vampires and shit all the fucking time.

I kind of miss those days, honestly. But whatever sells records and generates clicks.

Is it wrong I don't have a clue who this is?
I only know because the media won't stop talking about her.
It seemed all weird to me how she suddenly became the next britney spears of child abuse and nobody seemed to mind it was happening again

Tomboys are being influenced into transgenderism, and goth girls are being replaced with... whatever this is... with more vigor than the USSR replacing Russian Orthodox clergy with KGB plants.

My Goddess Siouxie Sioux would like to have a word.

Fun fact, Siouxsie Sioux hates the goth and punk subcultures and she actively rejects both those labels. Now she's gonna hate the goth scene even more after this article...

Andrew Eldritch will probably have a field day with this bullshit as well...

I'm thankful that I quietly left the goth scene when I did and went and switched to mainly listening to old Boomer classic rock, oldies, and outlaw country. I still love me some Sisters of Mercy, Christian Death, or Siouxise, but the subculture always was an autistic mess.

The weird cargo cult fascination that internet wokesters have with it only made things worse.
