Image and PR. AFAIK, comparing Vic to R Kelly and pedophiles and saying you’re associated with that ilk could really be a way to destroy a reputation . And “underhanded” isn’t in an online warrior’s vocabulary. What in makes you think the Matsuri dubbing studio is going to be affected by this, at all? Vic had already lost the case. The Matsuri thing was started with that being already a thing.
Him losing the appeal on what I feel most people are going to consider a technicality and Ty fucking up isn't going to change minds. It's a net zero event, I think, other than having smug idiots crawl out of the woodwork to be smug idiots.
The "community" already drew lots on this, and it seemed that the Femcels went to support the alpha femcels that work at Funimation (for now), and the rest of the community either doesn't care or support Vic.
And people will be circling to see when Vic kills himself, don’t forget that. Also, chances are any studio that gets the chance will redub his old shit just for some good PR.well, this is depressing
your career and reputation got sunk by a spiteful coworker and a fuckup legal representative
does anyone actually win in this scenario?
dubs will still be shit, vic's prospects look like shit, his coworkers will continue to dub shit, and everyone will move on from this piece of internet drama as it happens every time
Vic lost his case three years ago. He didn't lose anything tonight, all the court did was tell him the first court was correct. To say otherwise means you're as low-information as the KV tards who think Chupp's ruling (or this ruling) means Vic did everything he was accused of.Makes you wonder why you even entered the field to begin with. So much for that Matsuri thing.
It got Vic back as much of his career as he could possibly get without a court victory. Without Nick (or another PR firm which would've cost him big bucks), everybody, even his fanbase, would think Vic was guilty (like they did when this first started) and it would've ended right there. And look where that got Vic . Probably unable to ever work in his field again and having to see all he ever did go up in smoke. And all his fans potentially turning their back on him.
Chupp called out Ty for being an unprepared buffoon even back then, if Ty didn't submit everything 20 minutes after the deadline and notarized shit like everyone else, then he probably would've been angrier at the wheezing cripple going on about dumpster fires. The thing is, you have to assume what would have happened if Ty hadn't fucked up the evidence. There is no guarantee that Chupp would have let it through TCPA then, he probably wouldn't, or if the appeals court would have reversed Chupp's decision if the evidence was filed and notarized properly.
A lot of the opinion was "Mignogna referenced this important evidence... WHOOPS IT WASN'T ENTERED INTO EVIDENCE!"The thing is, you have to assume what would have happened if Ty hadn't fucked up the evidence. There is no guarantee that Chupp would have let it through TCPA then, he probably wouldn't, or if the appeals court would have reversed Chupp's decision if the evidence was filed and notarized properly.
Hasn't Matsuri been the target of way more cancelation attempts than even Vic? What'll happen is the clique will avoid working for them, but that just opens up the gates for fresh talent to come in, which is something the old cliques worked very very VERY hard to prevent (unless they sucked Sabat's dick on the casting couch, mind you).Image and PR. AFAIK, comparing Vic to R Kelly and pedophiles and saying you’re associated with that ilk could really be a way to destroy a reputation . And “underhanded” isn’t in an online warrior’s vocabulary.
Especially if the COA issued their decision as a memorandum opinion. If they decision isn't intended to ever be cited as precedent, it's less likely the TX Supreme Court will give a shit. The first appeal is guaranteed for them to accept it for review as long as you file it and pay the filing fees.
Anything beyond that is the discretion of the court of if they are willing to review it at all. It is highly unlikely the Supreme Court will review this case.
Or Ralph's criminal defense attorney.Should have hired DSP's bankruptcy lawyer.
Sue Ty with what money? I don't think Rackets is going to start a GFM to sue Ty Beard. So, spicy questions:
Odds and propriety of Vic suing Ty for malpractice?
What about the hundred of thousands of dollars in legal fees he'll have to pay because of today's ruling?Vic lost his case three years ago. He didn't lose anything tonight,
Vic's legal counsel should have warned him about the risks involved in pursuing a defamation case in Texas with their anti-SLAPP legislation. You're forgetting that Vic was always going to sue.
The thing is, you have to assume what would have happened if Ty hadn't fucked up the evidence. There is no guarantee that Chupp would have let it through TCPA then, he probably wouldn't, or if the appeals court would have reversed Chupp's decision if the evidence was filed and notarized properly.
I do remember Ty saying that KV’s legal games were things he wasn’t ready for. And Chupp was mad that so much paper was wasted printing everything. The fact that the ruling is ‘lost because late and gay’ is the perfect ending to all this
I doubt it. Vic is too nice for that, which many have said is like a fatal flaw for him.So, spicy questions:
Odds and propriety of Vic suing Ty for malpractice?
I know unlike this case, Lawtwitter used to like claim he might have one for that.
My point exactly. Their decision was basically tailor made to point out what a fuckup Ty is.A lot of the opinion was "Mignogna referenced this important evidence... WHOOPS IT WASN'T ENTERED INTO EVIDENCE!"
I don't think Vic is destitute, and the case would probably cost less than what this one did.Sue Ty with what money? I don't think Rackets is going to start a GFM to sue Ty Beard.
I'm sure they they did, and reading between the lines in the opinion the court seems to hint that had Ty not fucked up so badly, Vic should have been at least partially successful.Vic's legal counsel should have warned him about the risks involved in pursuing a defamation case in Texas with their anti-SLAPP legislation.
Vic will be fine. I'd be more miffed if that were not the case. His reputation has already been on the track for repair and this won't change that. Losing on technical details is, ironically, the best case scenario for a loss for -him-. He was anti-slapped which doesn't mean it was found to be untrue, just that he didn't have the evidence for it. And this just kinda affirms that.I do remember Ty saying that KV’s legal games were things he wasn’t ready for. And Chupp was mad that so much paper was wasted printing everything.
Either way, Ty’s a lawyer and the stink of this might go away, especially since this apparently isn’t Ty’s field of expertise. I don’t think I can say the same for Vic and his career.
The affidavits are inexcusable and would actually fall into "sue your lawyer territory". There is a difference between doing poorly and committing a critical fuckup that has no excuse.I'm sure they they did, and reading between the lines in the opinion the court seems to hint that had Ty not fucked up so badly, Vic should have been at least partially successful.
But when your most important evidence is in the form of affidavits (and we know affidavits are sufficient from previous TCPA rulings, like Miller v. Schupp) and those evidence have to be withdrawn for fatal defects, suddenly you have nothing.
I don’t for a second buy that Ty has never gone against a scummy lawyer.I do remember Ty saying that KV’s legal games were things he wasn’t ready for.
True but killing an entire rainforest was not the reason he lost. And Chupp was mad that so much paper was wasted printing everything.
Oh, nothing was going to fix that legally. Damage was already done. It’s why starting his own company was a good idea. And it’s why rallying his supporters was good. He’s about as fixed as he can be.I don’t think I can say the same for Vic and his career.
Hell, I'm sure unsworn declarations (like what Erica McCord submitted) would have worked. Yes, he should have budgeted his time better to get actual affidavits, but a sworn statement under penalty of perjury without a notary stamp should've just worked fine. The affidavits are inexcusable and would actually fall into "sue your lawyer territory". There is a difference between doing poorly and committing a critical fuckup that has no excuse.
Beard should have gotten them earlier. He should have known how notary works. He in fact agreed under threat of perjury the exact details of how notary works to -become- a notary. "Oops I forgot" doesn't save your ass there. So that right there is no less than two ways you could angle it, with one being pretty close to a slam dunk.
And knowing KV, I predict the amount will be “enough to drive him into financial ruin, laws be damned, because Vic is paying these people”. At least Texas law made sure Monica and Jamie won’t end up with Vic’s house.Monetarily, the GFM will cover all fees right now. Can' speak to later when Chupp has to revisit the fees award.
And how does this case affect these prospects knowing that KV can bring up the case and affidavits to anyone who cares about image and PR to kill any partnerships as soon as they’re announced?Oh, nothing was going to fix that legally. Damage was already done. It’s why starting his own company was a good idea. And it’s why rallying his supporters was good. He’s about as fixed as he can be.
It’s so gay. Who would want it?And knowing KV, I predict the amount will be “enough to drive him into financial ruin, laws be damned, because Vic is paying these people”. At least Texas law made sure Monica and Jamie won’t end up with Vic’s house.
Because anyone who would hire Vic... already knows? And knowing KV, I predict the amount will be “enough to drive him into financial ruin, laws be damned, because Vic is paying these people”. At least Texas law made sure Monica and Jamie won’t end up with Vic’s house.
