The WBC has issued a statement addressing the issue of transgender athletes in boxing:

1. The World Boxing Council (WBC) firmly and unequivocally supports transgender rights and recognizes the gender identity of an individual athlete. This commitment is grounded in the WBC values of inclusion.

2. The WBC shall continue to champion to protect transgender individuals against discrimination at their workplace, in employment, education and access to healthcare.

3. The WBC is committed to its value of fair competition. A combat sport bout should occur between two equally matched competitors. At present there is no consensus whether a bout between a transgender woman against a cisgender (biological) woman is a fair bout between two equally matched competitors. Metric such as testosterone level less than 10 nanomoles per liter (achieved by using testosterone suppression medication in the transgender woman), in isolation is inadequate to ensure fairness at the time of the bout. It can be argued that by the time a transgender woman combatant launches her professional career she has already gone through male puberty thus conferring her with the musculature and bony structure of a male. So, a transgender woman combatant may have an unfair advantage over her cisgender woman combatant.

Boxers have died during a bout or in the immediate aftermath due to traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) such as an acute subdural hematoma (SDH), epidural hematoma (EDH), subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), intracranial hematoma and injury to the great vessels of the neck such as carotid or vertebral artery dissection. The WBC advocates for two equally skilled and matched athletes competing in the cage or ring, on a level playing field and to keep matches fair, competitive, entertaining, and most importantly safe for all combatants. At present level of scientific knowledge, the WBC consensus is that allowing transgender athletes to compete raises serious health and safety concerns.

The WBC will keep researching with the upmost professionals in healthcare to have a greater understanding of the matter and will keep looking for fairness in the sport and equality.

A while ago I went to a company party thrown by my old workplace. Let’s just say it’s a nerd infested business and there are lots of actually autistic programmers and the sort. They’ve all been very gender-conforming, surprising to be honest because they’re exactly the kind of people who are exposed and vulnerable to the plague. I saw one of the oldest programmers from far away, recognized him but something was wrong. To my horror he was wearing eyeliner. Nothing else, no other makeup, no wig (this is a very bald guy in his 40s), no feminine clothing. Just the eyeliner. I didn’t want to risk it and stayed the fuck away the whole night, it was enough of a red flag. I’m all for anyone wearing makeup who wants to do so but programmer + bad eyeliner is a huge warning sign, do not approach.

Late but couldn’t resist replying because this is fake as hell. King Spa is a franchise of Korean sauna/spa (complete with some really lovely baths if you ever get the chance to go) and when you enter the front doors you basically have just the front desk and two doors, one for the mens and womens baths/changing rooms. They do scan IDs at the entrance and I’ve no doubt he was given a blue tag/keys - they give either blue for boy or pink for girl. Once you get into the locker rooms you’re given a “uniform” (usually blue/grey for boy and pink for girl) that you must wear once you exit the bath area and enter the common sauna area.

However, everything after that part is an obvious cope. The ajummas/old ladies working in the locker rooms monitoring them will chew you out for talking too loud in the bath, there’s not a chance in hell they see a man walk into the womens locker room in the mens uniform and say nothing, to say nothing of the reaction of women in there (often other Koreans or older women IME - who will not stand for that shit). The only way this happened is if somehow everyone in the sauna didn’t notice an obvious man in a completely different color of uniform enter the wrong locker room and ask for a different uniform once in it, or if they ignored it to prevent another Wi Spa situation.

I know a lot of troons are the type to crow about BLM but the lack of respect they have for other cultures is astounding. Single sex saunas/bathhouses are really big in Korean (and afaik East Asian in general) culture, it’s not just a big tub. Having the baths/lockers be single sex is part of why both sexes can relax and enjoy. There’s an entire huge sauna area where they could’ve hung out that isn’t gendered in the slightest and it’s the largest part of the entire building (it even includes a restaurant, movie theatre, and sleeping area besides the sauna facilities themselves). His insistence on entering the women’s facilities isn’t about being able to spend time with his girlfriend, which men can absolutely do at any Korean sauna outside of the single sex bath area, but about invading a female only space and his own self-gratification.

Also as per usual the male insisting he’s totally too feminine to blend in with other men is, as ever, just a dude with long hair who’d fit in with any band geek (even with the hrt):

In my ftm days when I would go I would often be given a blue key and have to ask for the proper one at the front desk even after getting my ID scanned - I don’t believe the system “spits” out a tag, the person working the front desk has always had to manually grab a tag, scan it, and then hand it over. The fact that he was given a blue tag isn’t a function of a transphobic system (oh noes!) but likely that he just doesn’t pass. Amusing given his immense cope about being 1 year on HRT and being so feminine uwu that he would totally get harassed in the mens lockers and had to cover his moobs lest the men realize they had a dainty woman in their midst.

It’s also vaguely unsurprising that both this and the Wi Spa incident included white men demanding entrance to a female only space and disrespected Korean culture/Korean sauna’s rules. As SJW-y as it sounds, so many of these white troons come off as particularly deeply entitled white men.
