Normally it's children going NC with their parents. It takes some pretty bad behavior for a parent to cut ties with their child. I knew a guy once who said he was convinced his son was a total sociopath and that he (and others) was convinced that this kid would eventually end up getting a life sentence (he's had several minor sentences). He was very matter of fact about it, but he clearly still loved his son and didn’t cut him out of his life entirely.
