Actually, I heard this first as part of Scientology's jargon. A "Suppressive Person" is anyone -- particularly a family member -- who dares to wonder whether all of this holding tin cans while having your emotions registered, etc. is really doing you any good. The mark is directed to cut off contact with Suppressive Persons, who are considered to be enemies of Scientology so dangerous that they are "fair game" once identified. These could also be journalists who write mildly critical articles, or mention in print that L. Ron Hubbard had a big honking pill habit by the time he died... shit, I think I just made myself a Suppressive Person. *puts on tinfoil hat and hides under bed*

But it's the same thing really. People within the cult who question things usually wind up on horrific punishment details. No debate, no "how to tell whether you have a new body thetan or an actually dangerous medical condition," no nothin'.
