Klondike's Choco Taco Discontinued After Almost 40 Years - No more ice cream taco for you

I would beg my parents to buy that when we went ro our local pool growing up. I never actually ate one before. I'm sure it's fine. But it makes you wonder, if people liked it so much why get rid of it? Manufacturing costs, low sales, etc.?
The cynical part of me makes me think someone in upper management deemed it “culturally insensitive” or something like that, because “the Choco Taco was entirely discontinued in July due to an unprecedented spike in demand for different Klondike products over the past two years“ doesn’t make any sort of sense.

YOU MANIACS, YOU DISCONTINUED IT!

That explanation would be a lot more plausible if they temporarily stopped production to focus on other products with higher demand due to limited capacity.

The only other thing I can think of is these are more expensive to make than other products so they focused on the higher margin ones to offset the Trump/Biden inflation crisis. And I don't want to belabor the point but they're both responsible, the massive printing and spending happened under both of them.

You can still get the knockoff versions of it, and it doesn't seem like there are plans to discontinue those.

Still sad.

I liked them, but in recent years they didn't seem as good as they used to be. Ah well, another chapter in my life comes to a close. Est quod est.

Its form factor likely requires a custom production line. Where as the other klondike products have portabity for making different versions of their product. Example given, the sundae cone line can produce any of the sundae cones (with maybe minor alterations), ditto for klondike bars. Choco Taco line can only make Choco Tacos so that means its relative cost to produce is higher.

Used to love these as a kid, been a bit since I'vehad one though. I'll try to see if I can pick one up before they're gone, RIP everything cool in this world.

Dang, I like ‘em but not enough to autistically hoard ‘em like I occasionally do for some soda. I’ll probably buy a few and relive some memories.

That said, I remember there being a cinnamon variant that kicked ass and, if that one were being discontinued, I’d be even more pissed.

I got a few more tonight because buddy and me went through the mess I got yesterday and, well, fuck it, we may literally never eat them again so might as well go balls-deep
but def noticed that there was a few sold since yesterday but not really a whole lot, certainly not a normal "some onlines threw a spaz" levels of buying stupid random shit
so yeah, maybe as much as people who like them really dig the Choco Taco, maybe if Klondike has to cut one then maybe this was the right choice from their perspective

What did the Choco Taco know about Hillary Clinton?

These were the thing I wanted off the ice cream truck, maybe I'm insane but I remember them not always having vanilla inside, I swear they had em with chocolate ice cream.
I think that was a limited run. I remember it existing too, unless we're both nuts.
