What's the appeal in piercings?

I remember it was dying out for awhile in the early 2000's then the tumblr era kicked in and now its everywhere with zoomers and it seems more ridiculous than ever. Why would you want a bull nose ring of all things?

Am I just getting old and don't understand those damn kids on my lawn screaming about pronouns?

Appeal of the strange. Decorating oneself is as old as time. Humans are easy and like shiny things on them, and piercings are an easy way of keeping shinies on them.
Just carry shinies around in a sack like a normal Skaven

I never got the appeal. Sometimes it can look ok, but most of the time it just makes their face look worse. At least gauged ear piercings are dying out, those were an abomination.
My favorite activity when going into a large city has remained consistent. Find someone with ear gauges (those big holes), obtain a lock of any size, lock it into said ear and run away with the key.

It's the same thing with tattoos. Modern youngsters live stable and comfortable lives, so they don't have any scars or other marks to indicate that anything significant ever happened to them. Piercings and tattoos are cheap solutions for that.
I get the tattoos, honestly. Piercings I couldn't ever understand. You can't accidentally snag a tattoo and rip it out of your skin. Plus, piercings that aren't modest ear piercings on women just look like absolute garbage 100% of the time.

there hasn't been one single person with piercings other than normal ear piercings that I've talked to, that WASN'T unpleasant (especially the girls). they love talking about themselves too much, they all fucking suck. these wacky piercings have just been a good indicator of walking no-zones, even more so than tattoos to be honest (though i really hate tattoos as well).
