Re: Reddit and porn, I have a Reddit account for looking at memes and some niche but very sfw interests I have. There must be a setting where I have nsfw results turned on, because when I look up things, the interface suggests that I might want porn communities it would have never occurred to me even exist. I’ll be looking up hot sauce recipes and be struck by Islamic content.
Recent horrible surprises have involved r/permanentchastity, r/clothedtitfuck, r/sleeporn, and a bunch of haram public sex bullshit when I’m just looking for r/publicfreakoutsreborn.
I used to be more agnostic about porn (I’m not a consumer of it, who cares) and I still don’t really care from any kind of ethical perspective. But I do think that a non-trivial number of people, mostly male, are vulnerable to porn in a way we don’t yet understand. We are running an uncontrolled experiment on a massive scale. Specifically, I think it’s risky for people to see porn as a kinky diner menu where they can keep dialing in their preferences for max dopamine, imo that’s radically different than a guy looking at a naked lady in a magazine.
