I wouldn't want to be in Twitter's shoes. Whether they turn the service into a hugbox or refuse to capitulate to the 'muh fee-fees' crowd, they're going to piss off a subset of their users. Based on how they've seemingly created two tiers of users and they apply rules only selectively, I find it hard to pity them, however.

If they're planning to appease Wu then it's not good for the sane individuals who use the service. It will play right into the hands of the people like her whose narratives and lies crumble very quickly when a dissenting opinion is allowed a voice. It's very clear that Wu defines that acts such as questioning her as "abuse". She wants to have her cake and eat it too - she maintains both private and public profiles but daring to disagree with her public tweets is verboten.

I take solace in the fact that banning people for posting public information that she was John Walker Flynt doesn't mean that information disappears. I just hope it grabs a bit more attention than it currently has.
