Nick has to say things like this in order to save his own ego. To him, he's a nice person who doesn't deserve these constant betrayals. So he has to create this idea that Jaden left because of some other influence. He can't be introspective because facing his own flaws would destroy his self image. It's the same as his constant repeating of "Creative genius", he needs to build himself up to fit his self image.

It's what makes him such a great lolcow, because he incapable of adapting to the situation. He always defends the ego and looks retarded in the process.
