I don't get why she didn't just take the toys away from him. If him playing with dolls was such a problem, why not emphasize more masculine interests instead of putting him on puberty blockers? Why is that the go-to option for so many mothers like this?

Because that's doing the best thing for your child. Aka parenting. A whole lot of people don't actually think through the consequences of having children, or how hard it is to be a parent and not your child's friend. Setting boundaries is hard for everyone and I imagine it gets a whole lot harder when the person you're setting boundaries for throws temper tantrums. At some point you just want the screaming to stop.

Besides that I think this is the mom that was homophobic (wasn't there one that explicitly said she didn't want a gay son and beat him? I mean they're just dolls. Kids will play with anything that makes their imagination fly) a lot of these moms really scream Munchausen's and 10-15 years ago would have been 'proud mommy to an autistic warrior or some shit'. You know the types. They aren't the ones who are just in normal groups asking how to deal with a kid that might have extra issues but its their user name, their banner and very much their entire online identity to the point the kid is almost a secondary feature. I think when people see Munchies they think of horror stories like Gypsy Rose, but a lot of 'proud trans parents' remind me of when I used to see 'proud mom of an autistic warrior' types on social media back in the day. And sticking the kid full of puberty blockers and the route to lifelong medicalization, knowing that the child will one day become an adult who has little to no chance of a normal relationship: well they're always going to be dependant on that mother. The kid is a source of narcissistic supply.

That's not to say I don't think some parents might have been misled by medical professionals over the use of puberty blockers and the dangers they provide; women were misled as to it with conditions like endometriosis, and some kids before them with precocious puberty. Some people do just believe doctors will do what is best and put their faith and trust in them rather than researching and asking questions. My criticism isn't a blanket statement of everyone who has had a kid declare themselves a troon because I do realize parents can be in a no win situation. Especially if they're being manipulated with the "do you want a dead son or alive daughter" game and everyone they talk to about their fears is telling them what an evil, uncaring bigot they are. My criticism is of a very particular, recognizable from space, type of parent.
 
I spent a month on Twitter because I wanted to know what the fuss was about. I hated it, and I now hate myself. Did get in to some arguments with some troons and met some pretty cool women from TERF island. So there's that.

Obviously trans identified males are the worst, but non binary women are a close second. Your grandmothers and their mothers didn't fight for women's rights so you could denounce being a woman and try to weasel your way out of sex based oppression. It's all very offensive, but also sort of understandable. If everything about being a woman is transphobic nowadays.

Hmm, I'm going to be that faggot and say: who cares if the son plays with "girl toys"? I was a tomboy, always had "boy interests" growing up, but I'm not a lesbian, nor am I transgender. No offence to any lesbians (all offence to troons). I think sometimes we just gotta let kids be kids, if they grow up gay, then whatever, but punishing them too hard by beating them if they play with dolls or actively telling them they should be playing with dolls because they're boys and they're oppressors or some type of woke shit, is only going to mess with their heads. Both of those things are bad and will fuck a child up, but only the latter will get you as a parent those sweet, sweet woke points.
