With the recent talk about Netflix starting to lose popularity, I keep seeing a big reason for people unsubscribing as "Netflix keeps canceling the good shows after one or two seasons". Yes, Netflix cancels a lot of stuff but most of it is crap anyways. Scrolling through the List of Ended Netflix shows on Wikipedia, there are hardly any shows on there that I miss. Even some good stuff like Daredevil or Mindhunter were cancelled because of other reasons. Daredevil was cancelled cause Disney was launching it's own service and wanted to dissolve Marvel Television and Mindhunter was cancelled (or put on hiatus, idk) cause Fincher wanted to work on other stuff.
The only show that I think was cancelled too soon by Netflix was Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and if what Netflix says is true about it not being watched a lot, then I understand from a business point of view. Most of the talk of Netflix cancels popular shows seems to either just come from normies who watch every crappy show, or people who don't understand some shows weren't cancelled because of Netflix's decisions. In fact, I think Netflix renews too many shows far past when they should end like 13 Reasons Why, Stranger Things, and Tiger King.
Obviously Netflix has been forced to make changes since they can't use shows like The Office, and Friends to draw in viewers anymore; meaning they have to keep making original shows to fill out a sizable catalogue. But they need to say no to more pitches, cause so much crap gets put on their giving Netflix originals a bad reputation.
They likely aren't to change though, so my hope is they fall under and their demise is used as a warning to the other streaming services (and other media). Problem is, most other services are back by big corps who can afford to keep pumping in money, no matter how much crap they put on there.
My prediction: If Netflix goes under, I expect them to maybe be bought by Amazon or Apple, who will merge their current service with Netflix and keep the Netflix name cause of brand recognition. Paramount+ and Peacock will probably go away, as well as Apple TV, if they don't manage to buy Netflix. Disney+ and HBO Max will stay around because of their backlog and financial stability.
