I guarantee someone promised behind the scenes to whale for lego starwars.
I can believe this because Phil doesn't always have confidence in his choices, but when he IS assured in it, it fucking shows. What's fucking gross about it, isn't even the fact that it happens. I don't give a shit if somebody is paying somebody else to entertain them. I may not do it so directly, but I've still done it, my whole life. And Phil is disgusting, but I have no emotions over him making money. He's not alone, and he's fucked besides.
No, what makes it awful is that Phil surely responds to these promises with basically an "uh, okay...", if he even says anything at all. Why? Because not only is he ungrateful, but at no time is anyone to ever see the real him. Not the DSP who fails to appreciate others, he lets that shine all the time. I'm talking about the DSP who determines his schedule based on what his whales appear to want, without ever admitting it. I'm talking about the guy who refuses to acknowledge the relationship he actually has with his fans. The guy who acts, even in private messages, like there is no understanding between them.
It's gross because what Phil ACTUALLY thinks when he gets such messages, is way worse than the lack of gratitude he chooses to respond with. He keeps them at a distance because he doesn't want them knowing how much they can actually control him if he's honest with them. He acts like it's a "whatever" thing, when he's really jumping around like Daffy Duck going "WOO-HOO!" inside that oddly-shaped head of his. He gets excited, and lies about it, because he knows his addiction will force him to be their bitch if he doesn't.
Not that I care about his problem being cancerous to everyone and everything around him (because those people bring it on themselvws by not walking away), but it very much is, and it's still despicable that he chooses indulgence over having some fucking dignity.
