I don't think they'd administer it just to wait for the father to show up. If the baby is full term, I think they'd go ahead and deliver, to prevent any complications though.

Its well known that the risk of infection increases greatly after two days of waiting for the labor to happen. Having a baby thats 2 weeks premature is a lot less of a risk then leaving it in the womb with a ruptured sac for 1 week.
