maybe they can make chips, but they can't use their homebrew chips to seemlessly keep manufacturing all the shit they were previously using state of the art tsmc chips for. you'd have to redesign a lot of the electronics to make your thing work with those homebrew chips, and end up with a less performant product.

Factory equipment and the like tends to be on much older fabrication processes. It's not like everyone else is stuck in 486 land. China's SMIC is down 10nm now, although I think Russia's homegrown industry is around 25 nm (about where Intel was with Haswell). The real issue for anything like factory hardware is IP and overall throughput, but then, China's been expanding on both fronts as well.

This tells me one of two things: either the US has intelligence to suggest a false flag attack by Russia using WMDs is being planned, or the CIA is itself planning such an attack to frame Russia.

Arm has a Chinese branch, and AMD's been licensing its Zen technology out to China as well. Reminder that the USA is not going to embargo China. Ain't gonna happen, no how, no way. The idea that Russia's going to be cut off from much of anything long term is ridiculous. It's just going to have to reorient a lot of its importation of finished goods toward China.

That's a lot of money. Hopefully none of America's toys end up in Russia's hands.

The goal is to make taking western territory more costly and to aid an insurgency in areas they've already forced the Ukrainian military out of.

There isn't really any point in sending anything more advanced than we already have, it will just be more small arms, anti-tank launchers, stingers, and maybe indirect fire weapons like mortars and artillery. Possibly general explosives or mines if they want to risk the optics, although I could see improvised explosive drones being very useful just like they've been in the middle east.

The bulk of it will probably go towards light vehicles, communication equipment and back end support like fuel, food, and medical supplies.
