Then Putin called all their bluffs so all the western leaders stated whistling and shuffling away while the realisation they were being left to it his the Ukrainian leadership.

It's quite comical when you see them now talking tough about how the west has responded with sanctions and Russia didn't expect that, like you were threatening actual action there and Russia knew full well you'd back down.
