💼 Careercow Darrick Dishaw / Venger Satanis / Kort'thalis Publishing - Incompetent TTRPG Creator, Filthy Coomer, Chronic Stoner, and Lovecraftian Cult Leader with a Cult of Grognards

Darrick posted this today on twitter comment on this article that tells about someone who stopped playing D&D because a lot of times he would put a lot of effort in worldbuilding and wanted D&D as a creative outlet, but nobody he played with appreciated it and it became a stressor for him and DMing became a thankless job. This guy you could tell from the article put a lot more effort in the game than Darrick ever did with a session and it is like Darrick makes fun of him for putting in effort.

Darrick also doesn't know the difference between a zoomer and a millennial (who are in their late 20s-30s by now) millennials mostly got started with 3.5 and Pathfinder (which Darrick hates so for all I know, he might be jabbing at the 3.5 and Pathfinder 1E fans, I can't really tell) and while many of them are sick of D&D, they are mostly sick because of the Critical Role fans invading the hobby among other things. I mean, I assume most of the regulars on this thread a millennials or at least late gen X or early zoomer.

Took a look at that article. Because, "DMing being thankless as your effort gets ignored? Oh man I know that feel."

Shit starts off with a whimper as our articletour has to tell us his life story. Then he dips his toes into GMing.
The hypothetical turned very real when I fired up a seven-person campaign based on the adventure within the 5E Starter Set.
HOLY FUCK DUDE.

Reading through, it sounds like this guy, after two years of 6 months jaunts of grueling DM, just wanted to write his own stories and not turn a group of ravenous munchkins loose to break everything and smear poop on the walls.

I channeled the energy I thought was such a perfect fit for Dungeons & Dragons and instead turned it toward the page and writing stories I would’ve otherwise told through the game. I fleshed out my Jimothy Sparklesprinkle character and wrote him a more complex history (with massive help from my own DM) than I could’ve ever imagined during session one.

tl;dr: a Monkey Cheeser MCU fanboy discovers that its hard to fight "The Man" when you are in fact The Man. He's got a long and involved backstory, do not let this man person organism genetic sequencing forces us to place as a member of Homo Sapien into your games.

Someone called out Darrick in the comments and pretty much said what I wanted to say to him which was "It is one hundred percent your choice, stop playing martyr" of course Darrick responds in the most immature way possible resorting to ad hominem.

darrick call out.png

Edit: New Darrick video is out, I archived it, will watch it later with my commentary. It is more about immersion and titled "Our Adventures are Also Real" I expect a lot of delusion in this one.

Darrick decides and assumes that kids these days can't appreciate true DnD, which in Darrick's constantly baked out of his gourd mind comprises of no-thought random bullshit that is just a pastiche of random shit he watched as a kid back when his dopamine receptors functioned normally.

Reminder the Critical Role fag who gave up due to his players and not growing a spine likely put more work per session than Darrick did per campaign (lol like he has the focus to do that). Also a reminder this same newbie who hated the game ultimately played more often and consistently than Darrick does.

This asshole has the audacity to claim that he plays DnD? Reminder his own blogs repeatedly show he much prefers play by post in text and that he has gamed so little and so rarely he struggles to do beyond a one-shot these days. He's been reduced to wanting to game for only 5 minutes that's how fucked he is. But hey, keep on honking and posturing Darrick; that you want your hobby to die with you and your pathetic little pig cult you bilk for Disneyworld money is super telling.

As for his response to criticism; he knows he's full of shit, hence why he only resorted to name-calling. He knows he can't rebut the fact he wasn't cancelled.

Okay, I watched the video about immersion. Darrick talks about feedback from the comments section (but only feedback from people who won't say anything outright bad to him or tell him that his ideas are stupid)

Darrick decides to define some terms because someone wondered if other terms would be more appropriate like "verisimilitude" and "suspension of disbelief"

To Darrick verisimilitude means "the appearance of being true or real" doesn't work because for his "gonzo" lulsorandom stuff because some stuff is totally unreal like an example of gonzo is the koolaid man which according to him is gonzo.

Suspension of disbelief to Darrick means "suspending your belief that something isn't true" Darrick likes to think that that a certain perspective, the adventures and the world and the game is real. Ah yes, the delusional stuff. He says what he thinks of as real is everyday life like going to work and doing daily routines in a modern day world, which is their reality. But according to Darrick, what if they are real, but in a different dimension where we can't interact with them.

He wants to feel like immersion is the best fit and that something is being brought into reality when we are immersed and those experiences are real and he wants it to feal real and it should be his goal.

He clarifies at least that he is not against fun in roleplaying games, but he gets fun from immersion.

He writes notes and takes a pause and reads things word for word from his notes forgetting what to say, very professional Darrick

"Just because it doesn't exists doesn't mean it is real"

"Just because I can't physically feel it doesn't mean in that other dimension or universe that it is not real."

"There is an infinite amount of possible worlds to interact with and just because we are experiencing this world here and now doesn't mean that a different reality or an alternative one exists out there that we can't get to because we either don't have the technology or whatever we would need."

All I get from this video is Darrick really wants the dimensional merge to happen.... Seriously, he has paused so much in this video trying to collect his words, the video drags on a lot longer than it is, plus at lot of times he tends to repeat points.

Darrick also hints at a new video about game mastering techniques, oh joy

still, that reply to that comment in my previous post on his blog really got to me, like, geez, he is so immature resorting to petty ad hominem attacks when he is confronted with people telling him the truth that it was his choice.

I didn't expect to do this myself, but yeah, here's a full autopsy of this video:

1. Darrick isn't even sure he knows if he's using the word immersion right for this concept his destroyed via THC brain wants to elaborate on.
2. Darrick doesn't remember the paypig, but remembers the terms verisimilitude and suspension of disbelief maybe being better fits.
3. Darrick then tries to define what the words immersion, verisimilitude, and what suspension of disbelief are, and what they mean to him and his games. And yes, it's off the top of his head, because fuck planning lol smoke weed erryday.
4. Darrick wants to let the thought train go home and then accidentally again reveals that on some level the games are still real to him damnit.
5. Darrick defines verisimilitude correctly, since he's glancing at the definition off screen. For those wondering its "appearing to be true", which in literature means "The characters and people are reacting in response to a situation how they should".
5b. For example, a hotheaded character who dislikes a person might challenge them to a fight if they feel wronged, a shy person likely will clam up and get anxious if forced to speak to a crowd. Little things like that.
6. Darrick fails to grok why this word might have value to a DM, instead muttering "what if it intentionally goes beyond what true or real beyond our perspective"
7. Darrick then falls back to his excuse whenever you call him out on poor planning "it's gonzo", for his example on why this doesn't work.
7b. Translation: he wants a thing to happen because lolrandomfunny, but is nettled when people point out how little it makes sense.
8. Darrick's example of "gonzo" is having the Kool-aid Man burst in through the wall to talk with the party as his example, because of course it is.
8b. Darrick scoff/snorts and denies it as true or real. Ironically, having the Kool-Aid Man burst in through a wall still follows verisimilitude from an out of character point of view, since we the audience expect certain behaviors from him; busting down a wall is one of them.
9. Darrick defends that this could totally happen in an RPG guys, and sure. You know what also can happen Darrick? I could make your sword and armor out of rubber and force you to get bouncy balled to death, no save, no rhyme or reason. A good setting still requires internal logic dummy.
10. So in short, Darrick doesn't like being corrected by a fan, misconstrues what he means because *yawn*🚬, and then denies that an internal truth for character actions isn't what he means. Likely because he can't be consistent with characters.
11. Darrick then defines suspension of disbelief on his phone, which is allowing one's self to ignore real world logic due to the logic in a fictive work.
11b. A good example of that would be in Full Metal Alchemist, they can actually make alchemy work and do it in combat, but there's rules set such as equivalent exchange, and it's truly easier to rearrange material there already rather than transmute. It gives us an internal world logic. As long as the setting follows those rules, or breaks them and gives us reason for how they did, then we're good.
12. Darricks last two braincells violently heat up as he hmms and hawws for seconds on end trying to understand how this could relate to a setting.
13. "I'd like to think that from a certain perspective that the world, the characters, the game, IS REAL... but not real to us in an objective reality"
13b. Yep, you heard it here first, Darrick did so much damage to himself due to drugs he lowkey does believe in the merge. He honest to god thinks cartoons and his player games are real.
13c. So yes, with Darrick, Mazes and Monsters is a very far out game man.
14. Darrick rambles through basic life tasks that a person does in their day-to-day, and then uses fucking quotations when referring to it as real. He likely is playing his delusions down for the new audience then.
15. "What if these adventures are real?" ~ Darrick Dishaw
16. Seriously, he's going full Mazes and Monsters here.
17. Correction: Darrick is going FULL FUCKING CHRIS-CHAN HERE. He genuinely thinks that they all are real but unreachable.
17b. He may be boring, but I'm fully fucking awake now.
18. Darrick admits when he plays games, he starts disassociating and hallucinating. This is getting more and more hilarious and sad.
19. Darrick has admitted his mental state's getting worse as he believes his delusions are growing stronger. I believe this is because he hides in a hugbox and only listens to asskissers now which reinforce his delusions.
20. Darrick's insane babble ends with him believing he defined suspension of disbelief and how it works... lolno.
21. Darrick gives the literary definition of immersion, which is a person is heavily and mentally involved in a story. His definition includes that "it feels like we're already there".
21b. So the reason Darrick uses Immersion as his description for why his version of DnD is so much better is because it validates his delusions that he can leave the thought plane and enter his tentacle clown rape pregnancy dungeon.
21c. It also allows him to be right, since it's clear his paypig suggesting new terms from a sane and authorial point of view got under his skin.
22. Darrick is using the royal we as he crows about how his delusions can be hidden under this term that he agrees with, or he just assumes all of his piggies will agree.
23. Darrick literally can't tell the difference between when a dude is hyped he can play Daugav of the North, the great Dwarf Ranger, and having him believe he IS Daugav of the North, the great Dwarf Ranger.
23b. This is why you don't fucking toke if you have schizophrenia in the bloodline kids; THC can trigger that shit.
24. Darrick unironically believes that DnD works like Chick Tracts or his shit interpretation of the Left Hand Path where your actions bring forth reality.
25. If I played Cha'alt with an eye for immersion; I'd probably just play Dark Sun instead tbh. It's about the same thing but 10k times better.
26. Darrick admits he uses gaming for escapism. This is fair, but then again he genuinely also keeps saying he wants it to be real, he wants to escape this life.
26b. Maybe take some therapy and lay off the weed son, that THC ain't doing you good.
27. Darrick then tries to pretend he doesn't hate people who play DnD for fun by saying he agrees, BUT that doesn't allow him to hallucinate tentacle raping women because his wife forced him to stop swinging.
28. Darrick admits he wrote notes, but didn't do it for his main part of the video. He also desperately struggles to read his own fucking notes. GG.
29. It devolves into him trying to justify his drug and latent psychotic hallucinations and fetishes being real.
29b. "Just because we collectively can see it doesn't exist doesn't mean it's not real" the lunatic posts, not aware that he doesn't come off as a philosopher but as a mental case needing anti-psychotic drugs and therapy.
30. Darrick knows what his tentacle looks, feels, and smells like. :tomgirl:
31. Darrick then wheelspins repeatedly over how his setting is real but it's not real; a real violent fight between his last two brain cells exists.
32. Darrick spends a large portion of his day imagining what tentacles feel like, repeatedly and endlessly.
33. Darrick immediately zigzags after again circularly trying to imagine his shit settings as real and about to hit the merge to Rick and Morty.
33b. Admittedly you do need a high IQ to parse what this clown has to say. Or a fine tooth comb.
34. Haha, Darrick changed his example since he got burned by me mocking he's a consoomer most likely.
35. His next pick is of course the Chronicles of Amber, which deals with the same concepts that he wants to be real such as making things real with your mind as well as there being other dimensions.
36. Basically he's trying to claim that Rick and Morty or the Chronicles of Amber is how our universe works; as one in a crowd of many.
36b. He also then describes how we're stuck until the science, magic, and quantum physics (which is different from science somehow) allows us to enact the merge.
37. Darrick gets sanpaku eyes as he desperately tries to make you believe him, that his tentacle clown rape dungeon is real. The tentacles are real. IT'S ALL REAL
38. You can see the other places if you PLAY IF YOU IMMERSE. YOU CAN TAKE A BUS TO GET TO HIS CRAZYLAND. CHA'ALT IS REAL HAHAHAHA
38b. Seriously, Darrick is not stable. He's not sane. The pot activated his latent schizophrenia.
39. Darrick wraps up his babble with the same statements he's made for the last 4.5 minutes, and you just know that he takes all things he heard as a kid literally.
39b. He took DM is god literally, he took authors describing their setting as another world literally, he takes everything literally. Don't do drugs kids.

This man is not well in the head.

It is ironic because in his video yesterday he called the organizer of TSRcon schizophrenic, but in reality he is the schizophrenic one.

But alas, that is the thing with schizos, everyone else around them is crazy but them

Seriously, chronic weed use is no joke, stoners act like frequent use of weed has no side effects, but just like chronic alcohol use, it can completely fuck you up.

Última edición:
Jesus fucking Christ. @Adamska You the real MVP for sitting through that.
So he believes the merge is real, and is worse than a monkeycheese player. He wants to be a monkey cheese GM but wants the players to be 100% verisimilitudely immersed and playing it straight when he injects his coomer "gonzo shit".
I get the impression he hates "D&D for fun" because when people don't have anime schoolgirl reactions to his slime tentacles, it breaks the fantasy and he can't coom.

Seriously, chronic weed use is no joke, stoners act like frequent use of weed has no side effects, but just like chronic alcohol use, it can completely fuck you up.

Stoners like to site all the studies that say "No physical addiction!" while ignoring that it creates mental addiction like a sonofabitch. Hardcore Wastoids cannot function unless blazed. I had a good friend go the wastoid route. Nigga started going out a little blazed, then couldn't go out unless he reeked like Cheech & Chong's van interior. In his early 30s, and he just worked, bought weed, smoked weed, and played FIFA or watched soccer. That was it. We took him out on the town for his birthday, and he "couldn't function" at the bar because he wasn't relaxed enough, so back home because he needed to smoke "just a little" so he could have a good time. Then proceeds to get utter ripped as all the shit he took earlier takes effect + the smoking, and spent the rest of the night with people who drove in from out of town to take him out for a good time, there sitting on the couch staring unfocused at the wall and occassionally saying complete gibberish or asking where the pizza came from.
We're technically still friends, he's a still a good guy the 30 minutes every week he's leveled out enough to buy from his dealer, but his life is 100% weed and soccer and I care about neither.

At least functional alcoholics have hangovers and realize they have a problem. When stoners have a few unfortunate moments of being level, its the fault of the world for being stressful.

Someone did an interview with Darrick! (archive)

I love this quote and the sheer arrogance of him, he won't even tell the interviewer the mistakes he made

On that same subject, are there any major missteps you’ve made in the business? If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently?

Nothing huge. Sure, I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way, but that’s been part of the process. Even my failures bear some fruit… however strange the taste.

He makes Vengercon sound even less appealing

Yep, I’m excited for Venger Con. It’s going to be the Woodstock of gaming conventions. It won’t have a lot of the bells and whistles you see with modern cons these days, but the gaming we do there will live on for decades to come. Venger Con focuses on old-school, OSR, and traditional RPGs. It doesn’t have a massive dealer hall and a room for board games and another for card games, etc. It’s just RPGs.

Also, Darrick, your delusions are showing, the fact he thinks of Cha'alt as his home away from home is kind of sad.

After that, assuming I’m still alive, I’ll probably start work on a fourth Cha’alt book. It’s my favorite setting; I like to think of it as my home away from home. That’s where the best adventuring takes place. To me, it’s very real – even more real than someplace I’ve never been, like Kansas, North Dakota, or France.

Also, here is some Twitter posts I found amusing

"I am devoid of ideas right now, write stuff for my settings for me, paypiggies!"

darrick devoid of ideas.png

Thing is Darrick, you were 100% supportive and voted for Obama... remember? We have the evidence

darrick politics.png

I could name quite a few mistakes Darrick did for his books.

1. Refusing to bother writing a solid structure and mechanic basis for Empire Satanis
2. Narcissistically assuming that people would figure out they had to go to his terrible blog for clarification and errata.
3. Stupidly shoving all the coomer shit in the core book he wrote for Alpha Blue, meaning it can't reach a wider scale.
3b. Doing this more recently with Cha'alt, which he describes as a trilogy. The third book shoves his coomer shit from After Dark in it.
4. Not studying how other people write their books, both official and OSR. I've done this and it's why I'm very strongly following how the 3.5 PHB works, but with some edits like just giving you the class' spell list early like you would in splats or OSR.
5. Being a cunt and giving the player an incomplete version of your basic bitch adventure system for Cha'alt, ie his pretend magnum opus. I honestly think Alpha Blue is since it's the only one that actually is close to a game.
6. Stupidly throwing in characters from other IP in his works and desperately hoping that he isn't sued to shit and back.
7. Paying his own money after intentionally lowballing his campaigns due to the desire to pretend he's successful.
8. Refusing to actually expand his reach, even if modestly, by making games and trying to appeal to other nerds from other fields.
9. Refusing to edit or fix his books and lashing out at his own pay pigs when they suggest fixes. He took six years of hurling abuse at people before crippling healer rather than just rebalance it.

There's so many errors it's amazing.

On Vengercon: Darrick has no idea what he's supposed to have for a con. He did not bother to do any planning and did not bother to try and ask and schedule some allies in the OSR field for this. He is just flinging buzzwords desperately and in absolute terror because "dude not cool don't harsh my buzz man I'll figure it out lol*yawn*🚬". This stupid fucker has nothing planned out other than peacocking in front of his pig cult in what comes off as a vanity con and grift. He has no judges, no co-GMs. He doesn't even have resources for that either, probably assuming they'll cover for his horrendous incompetence. Fuck, he doesn't even have any other events other than his delusional attempt to pretend that he can GM worth a shit. He probably didn't even pay the hotel the money to use their venue for three days in a row because "dudeweedlmao".

He struggles to run one-shots, let alone adventures. He struggles to speak in front of others, and has to disassociate and go full psychosis to feel any fun in the game to avoid people. He must REALLY be hoping it gets cancelled for grifting purposes.

And lastly: Darrick believes his settings are CWCville confirmed.

New Darrick video! Here, he reviews a game that one of the people from the Inappropriate Characters podcast made.

It is exactly what you expect from Darrick, it is rambly as fuck and I don't even know what the game is about or if it would interest me or anything about the mechanics. I don't think he even ran the game to even do a proper review of the materials.

Basically, a total waste of space on the internet. It seriously reminds me of whenever Kai Wilcher reviews makeup and how she said she "likes it" and it is "tho cute" but doesn't explain why. The only difference is Kai has the excuse that she was legit born retarded and emotionally neglected by her mother out of shame, but Darrick made himself retarded by all of the weed he smoked.

The Lost Dungeons Of Tonisborg.mp4
So the product in question is The Lost Dungeons of Tonisborg, a 10-level-dungeon that derives most of its value from the fact that it was written by a player in Dave Arneson's original OD&D Blackmoor game. Not what I would pay $100 for, but it's certain to hit a niche market of OSR grognards with more money than good sense and with an autistic obsession for anything that has ever been involved with the first Blackmoor and Greyhawk games, and it doesn't have to sell many copies to become profitable at that mark-up.

Not that you would learn that from Darrick pawing through the book from too far away to read anything to a rambling commentary consisting mostly of 'y'know' and similar fillers. Paragraph above contains more information than the actual 'review' video. In fact I think I have seen some "ROXX! 5 stars" and "SUXX! 0 stars" reviews on Amazon that provided a more thorough look at a product.

Of course: Darrick must CONSOOOM to supplement his damaged dopamine receptors.

Reminder that that 100 dollars could've been used for a couple of resources for his vanity con, be they copies of his own book for others to take some of the GM load off of him, or to cover for a night in the inn himself for it. Actually, his third trip to DISNEY WORLD probably would've really helped cover the con's expenses since a thousand bucks goes a decent way for a small con like this. Buy why plan for something that's less than 5 months away? Smokeweederryday *yawn*.

Reminder for those wondering you need months at minimum to set up a con; I've learned this from shitshows like Fyre Festival, Dashcon, and other flops.

And by himself? Darrick should've gotten at least 1 and a half to do this.

"I leafed through a book so you don't have to"

Darrick makes some offhanded comment about black and white artwork... bruh, have you SEEN the old d&d books?

How much weed do you think Darrick smokes? I'm guessing it's 3 grams a day, but I'll entertain the idea of 1 gram if he smokes right before he makes videos and at no other point in the day. Dude has got to go through like a few pounds year to be fried all day erry day

Yeah, I wonder this too, like, weed is illegal recreationally in Wisconsin and the people who want to push weed legalization are not the Right that Darrick tries to grift off of, it is actually more the Left.

He must go through a lot of weed, he is probably his dealer's favorite customer at this point.

Breaking news! Darrick was banned from running Cha'alt at his Local Game Store

This was their response:

"We maintain a family friendly and welcoming game space. We find your RPG content to be at odds with both of those things. We removed it from our shelves for this reason. We therefore cannot host your game at Misty Mountain Games"

Darrick thinks this is political and he is being persecuted and obviously not all the sex stuff in the games that isn't for kids and not family friendly at all and they are all a bunch of woketards and for all of his paypigs to boycott them.

Venger Satanis, Cha'alt no longer welcome at FLGS.mp4

This was their response:

Darrick again lies like the wounded ego and victimhood seeking fool he is. He wasn't banned from the store; he was just not allowed to shill Cha'alt at it. And the best part is it's entirely because he can't contain his degenerate sexual deviancy in that work. He stupidly chose to include After Dark in his third terrible book, which contains his Rated X stuff. So no shit the place would ban it for that content. It caters to small children as well as adults, which I guess Darrick is okay with vividly describing sex to.

One person was smart enough to explain the store's reasoning, and Darrick huffs and whines that "Dads play too" and then he belches out a talking point he picked up from his redpilled grifting days about "nuclear family". Reminder this scum bag needed to have a shotgun wedding because he was too stupid to use a condom and too much of a coombrain to stop cooming in different women. You don't get to church it up with fake right wing points when you clearly don't believe in that shit at all.

Also I guess he'd be okay with his daughters having to hear creepy autistic men scream slurs and talk about anally raping corpses. Mist Mountain banned his shit for that reason.

Fuck cancel culture and all that, but also if my LGS was hosting weird sex fetish games in the public area and the owner was OK with that, I'd probably try to find a new LGS.

You want to have your coomer ERP go right ahead. People should do what they want to do. But fucking host your weird sex shit at someone's house or rent a motel room and put down some tarps. Have some fucking awareness of your surroundings. I'd also not want the coomer books out on the floor on, and I don't think Cha'alt is popular enough to warrant being a "behind the counter" item.

Darrick decided to put up a new blog post doing more screeching about how they aren't selling his books and aren't letting him run his clown rape games in front of children. (archive)

He compares his stuff to drag queen story time and calls it hypocrisy because the woke people do that to kids which, well, usually the stories those drag queens read aren't straight up porn like he is doing last time I checked.

Also, Warhammer, Call of Cthulhu, and Vampire can be made into family friendly games, you shouldn't have included Cha'alt After Dark in your third book, Darrick. Also, Alpha Blue is straight up coomer sex stuff that it can't be divorced from else it isn't Alpha Blue anymore.

He does admit he is a former classical liberal

Also, he links to about what is happening on Discord, which again, wouldn't be a problem if he didn't link all of his accounts to one identity since basically something something Discord is banning people for what they do on other platforms which again, as long as you use different usernames and online aliases for stuff it is a non issue. Infact, the reason why I could find all that stuff on Darrick in the first place is because he used Venger Satanis on everything.

Also, I have been to Local Game Stores back in the day as a wee child in the 90s and early 2000s for Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards, ummmm... no, they had D&D stuff, but they didn't have Book of Erotic Fantasy and Book of Vile Darkness was at best behind the counter. Also, I wasn't allowed as a kid to go to a lot of events there because of creeps which gave my mom pedophile vibes which he would any sane parent who goes there especially if they overhear one of his games.. Which, oh yeah, Book of Vile Darkness doesn't have straight out tits and gore on the cover, just a book with a bunch of skulls on it, it is pretty tame on the cover, all you would need to do is shrink wrap it or something so prying kid eyes wouldn't see it. With a lot of his books, you can't.
