This is the first time that I know of that anyone has openly disliked Jess in the PCP. They rarely mention each other on the podcast, and I had assumed Jess still hung out with the group often, he just didn't want to be on any PCP related content.

I'm on the side of copyright ownership; yes, Digi and Jesse are in the wrong of not fulfilling their business obligations of delivering the promised product (i.e. the Blu-Rays) to their fans who paid for them but it is their copyright. They never asked for or delegated this responsibility to Ben to fulfil this on their behalf. All Digi and/or Jesse need to do is get a lawyer to send a cease & desist to Ben and the latter's bootleg Blu-Rays would come to a screeching halt and he would likely have to financially compensate both Digi and Jesse for any sales he has made with their copyrighted material.

But these are terminally online individuals, after all, so passive-aggressive bitching on their fanbase Discords is how they (not) handle matters.

Ultimately, copyright is copyright; Ben is getting himself into very murky legal waters where he could be easily sued by either Digi (who would have the most motivation in doing so due to the one-sided handbagging he has received from Ben in 2021) or Jesse. Maybe he hasnt plummeted, but he's definitely stagnated. All of his best videos were made years ago, and his output went from consistent videos and podcasts, to just consistent podcasts, to just consistent streams, to basically nothing, When he makes shit its entertaining, but I think he peaked on youtube a long time ago.

I got into the Trash Taste podcast through their association with Abroad in Japan, so I look at it more as a general Japan culture and travel channel than an anime channel. Certainly, I think that's where it is going with their specials. Although I could see how people who were there near to the 'beginning' might be alienated by the evolution in content.

It’s very clearly not an anime podcast, outside of minor tangents you can count the number of times they’ve talked about anime on your fingers, and most of those are instances of them talking about how long it’s been since they’ve actually watched anything. Connor literally isn’t even an anituber, at least not in the same vein as the other two, pre-troon Digibro, Mother’s Basement, and the rest of the OG “anime analysis” crowd. He just makes anime/weeb adjacent content, and his entire “character” on the show is that he’s a normie who barely watches anime to begin with.

Said light novel publishing company (Bookwalker) is really just an arm of Kadokawa, a massive manga publisher which is where their REAL connections and clout come from. It should also be noted that the podcast wasn’t their idea, it was Bookwalker (specifically their producer Maylene, who occasionally appears in videos as a cameraman) who reached out to them with the idea of moving them to Japan and starting a podcast. Kadokawa is clearly using them as ambassadors for the Western anime fanbase, so we should count our blessings that they picked three guys who are largely apolitical (surprisingly, even openly shitting on woke garbage on more than one occasion) and are self-aware and level-headed enough to not spill their spaghetti in front of important people.
