I posed the question earlier in the thread if the beating would humble Ralph (stupid question I know) but with him being mocked at almost every turn his hubris has somehow increased.
He gets beaten so badly it lands him in hospital and he just carried on. Ralph’s whole state of mind is an enigma and any psychiatrist could make a decent career out of studying.

Less of an enigma and more of a basic bitch question really. Gunt's mentality and "southern honor" makes him think he is a king and anyone that might have a perceived slight against him is automatically his enemy which then he tries to "own" in different ways to show how superior he is and prove how much of a man he is. Also to add to that he is compensating for the Memphis Micro he is very famous for. Just back from my trip to Portugal, place had nice food.

And that's not even "Southern honor." That's tard rage. He's an angry faggot. He can't cope with even a mild dig at him. That's not Southern, that's retard.

It's already been discussed to death. But the accepted theory is that he is either developing, or had previously already had NPD(Narcissistic Personality Disorder). Unlike guys like Kraut, Jarbo or Tonka who collapsed under the pressure, Ralph double's down as a coping mechanism. Him screaming he looks like a Greek God, and how he's the most talented one is from his delusions. My best guess his perception of reality is he's a "I live by my own rules rugged underdog, like from Driver or the Joker", and we project and attack him out of spite and anger because we can't force him to conform, and we can't get him to quit (why when he defeated the vickers, rather than relief, his response was to gloat about how he shook up the world). It'll probably come down to the day he really gets fucked up and he's a sad vegetable that can no longer rage, and flop around that he might realize we used him a source of entertainment, and he's brought us all laughs and happiness.

Watching Ralph's post-beating stream from the hospital (or hotel or whatever)...I never thought I would say this, but I feel sorry for him. I'm afraid if one more thing goes wrong he might explode. I'm afraid he's not far from killing someone or himself. I guess most likely, it probably won't ultimately get bad until he runs out of money. But it's clear he's lost almost everything, has been humiliated, and is not taking it well.
